The Lore:

Wukong managed to free himself earlier when they were about to use the Samadhi rings on the mountain. He attacked Macaque, pushing him out of the range of the Samadhi fire.

Because of this, Macaque failed to get rid of Lady Bone Demon's shackles and soon he was brought back by the Mayor to the Lady Bone Demon to face the consequences.

LBD was already fed up with Macaque's failures but couldn't deny his usefulness. To ensure he did exactly what she wanted how she wanted, she possessed him.

The power she "lent" him continued to spread on his body and as an additional punishment, she allowed it to consume most of his body.

She also sealed most of his hearing abilities and forcing him to listen to his past life over and over again.

In this state, Macaque has no control over his actions and have no connection to the present time.
