“The Doom Generation”
i want addicts to be safe and fed and housed and loved unconditionally i am 100% serious
emphasis on the love part, yes having their basic needs met like housing and food are important, but love is just as important, many people become addicts in the first place because they were shown a lack of love in childhood. a strong sense of community and care is a massive part of harm reduction. i want addicts to feel loved, not just fed and housed. love is a basic need. addicts are people with value and things to love about them like every human being.
the fact that i'm no longer the same age as the protagonists of novels and films i once connected to is so heartbreaking. there was a time when I looked forward to turning their age. i did. and i also outgrew them. i continue to age, but they don't; never will. the immortality of fiction is beautiful, but cruel.
It is really cool to look back on how young they are, though. It puts so much new context on the trials they endured and responsibilities they shouldered. I can appreciate how much they took on willingly and how much was forced onto them so much better now that I realize how young they were - and that feeling grows as I do. :)
You have to start noticing things. The direction of the rays of sunshine, how it touches and warms your skin; the sway of a leaf in a mild breeze; the simple beauty of the flowers; the strong smell of your morning coffee; the wind in your hair and on your face; the liveliness of the city; the calm of your soul. You have to start noticing this and start living for it.
for 2024:
read a lot and read everything
film and art and music are what builds ur soul
be outside
love and romance will not come to you any quicker if you are focused on it constantly
possessions don't improve things
movement does improve things
university is <4 years of the rest of your life - make the most of it
find the pleasure in hard work
lose the pleasure in scrolling
creation is essential
joy, love & intelligence are the tenets of life
stagnation isn't inevitable. no person is in a fixed state. you can always change

my nostalgia for circa 2010 club music is hysterical to me. i was not at “the club” in two thousand and ten, i was at home on the family computer singing along to “like a G6” as if i wasn’t in the G6th fucking grade
i love antique stores you go to check out & theyre like “where the hell did you get this”
I was meant to be a character in a low budget horror movie in 2005 wearing a short sleeved shirt over a long sleeved shirt to signify to the audience that I am an enjoyer of music
Just found out I was thirsty not by receiving a signal from my body about it but by dozing off and dreaming about cold water from different alluring angles. This is great. I think all my wants and needs should be revealed to me this way
2024 is the year we stop “consuming” and go back to “reading/watching/listening to/playing” things
gonna be real for a minute. how do you kiss someone for LESS than twenty minutes
