I have absolutely no idea how you've taken two of the more difficult characters in the universe and strung them together absolutely flawlessly. In a sense, it's both your calling card and your downfall - you play unique and abstract characters so well, and yet, because they ARE abstract and unique, no one seems to give you the attention you deserve. I promise I will send you a starter one of these days... whenever I find the courage to do so.
First off, thank you for the feedback. This means tons when I hear someone give me feedback on what I’ve been doing.
It’s been a joy to develop characters such as Alistar and Blitzcrank, and develop their backgrounds, their personalities. You are right in that the characters are abstract and unique, and that is sometimes a flaw in how people will approach them.
Some people are scared, nervous, or confused on how to approach a character that isn’t familiar to them, or isn’t humanoid. I know that there are some that only approach others for a potential ship. It’s hard to get reactions from people at times unless the prompt responses are nearly out of character or comedic.
It gets hard on me when I ask for feedback, and the feedback is something along the lines of “you’re very funny.” But why am I funny? What can I improve? What can I do to help make it funnier, or more entertaining?
I appreciate others giving me love a lot. It gives me motivation to keep doing these off-beat characters. But I do wish to have some serious feedback at times, so I can improve my writing, and make sure that I can entertain others even more.
The recognition will come. It’s hard at times when you reblog prompts, send out asks, but don’t get responses, or you get something along the lines of “I don’t know how to respond to your character / I’m nervous to RP with you / how do I RP with a non-human?”
But I’m willing to be patient. I love the characters that I play. I love the community. The interactions I do get are lovely, and I appreciate them all. I hope that others will open up to me, or give me, or anyone else that has spent their time to bring a unique or off-beat character to light, a small amount of their time to try something new.
So this is not only for me, but for others who have chosen to RP a unique character within a fandom. Keep at it. Don’t be scared. If you love your character, and you wish to spread your love of such character with others, stay strong, and you’ll get recognized eventually. I’m sure of it. It’s hard for us, but we can do it. It’s all for the love of the character and the enjoyment of RP, no?
