I love learning new things and becoming filled with creeping dread
This guy spent over a year throwing eggs to his unsuspecting mum
Am I the only one who thinks that hitting a kid and abuse are different things? Like, if I ever had a kid, I wouldnât spank their ass raw or something like that. But a bop on the mouth or the ear pull or a smack upside the head? Yea. Those are behavior modifiers.
Except theyâre not.
The studies done by the trained psychologists in this joke show that little kids donât associate being hit with the thing theyâve done wrong. Very small children only understand consequences that are directly caused by the thing they did. Steal a biscuit, biscuit tastes good. Then for no reason mummy hit me. Very different to stole a biscuit, now no biscuit after dinner because I stole a biscuit.
And they also show that when a child is old enough to understand why they are being hit that non-physical punishment is equally as effective and less mentally harmful in the long run.
Do you know who benefits the most from hitting as a punishment? The parent. It gives a satisfaction rush. Parents do it because it makes them feel good.
Basically kids have two stages: too young to understand why they are being hit so physical punishment is useless for anything other than teaching a child that bigger stronger people can hit you whenever they like (Which sounds like the same lesson you would learn from abuse)
And the second stage is old enough to be reasoned with so many punishment options are available and you chose physical violence because it makes *you* feel better, which is an abusive action.
The only time a person should ever use violence against another human being, of any age, is to stop that person from being violent themselves.
Hitting a stranger is a crime. Hitting someone small who relies on you for food, love, and shelter should be as well. Donât hit your fucking kid.
Child care worker and school teacher here! Just wanted to add a few things to this. First off, children donât have the proper brain development yet to comprehend complex things like violence or physical discipline. That is why they can only comprehend very basic cause and effect. Secondly, hitting your child teaches them to fear you and resent you. This over time starts breaking down basic connections your child has with you. They start to no longer veiw you as a loving or caring parent. Lastly, it teaches children that violence is a solution. Which isnât healthy for your child, or for anyone else. Because then your child is going to come to school and hit another child in my classroom the next time they feel upset or frustrated and now itâs my job to fix your bad parenting while having to teach your child healthier ways of dealing with things such as anger. What you do to your children and how you treat them teaches them how to act and shapes the type of person they will later grow up to become!
Can your child understand why youâre hitting them?
No: then they wonât learn from being hit
Yes: then theyâre old enough to be talked to and learn from that
a point was thought of, delivered, and MADE
I saw a similar thing in a screenshot on Reddit the other day.

THIS IS WHAT DOODLES CAN LOOK LIKE IF YOU BRUSH THEM DAILY!!!!!
A fluffy child. A brushed and combed out pupper is the best kind.
Dude just stop climbing mount everest. just stop it. Wtf
Not sure if this is a shitpost but we really do need to stop climbing mount everest. Itâs largely pointless and weâve made a huge ecological impact of years from waste left behind from all exhibitions. Not to mention the economic impact on locals

who would have thought that the solution to homelessness is providing people with housing? đ§
They want you too see people struggling to live in the streets so that youâll work harder for less to avoid the same fate. In a capitalist society, youâre not supposed to feel safe with unemployment.
I stand by this 1000%Â
This used to be normal an expected! This was a requirement when I was in elementary school in the 90s and the beginning of the 00s!
I donât know what happened!
But this used to be a thing!
Thank God itâs back, I donât know why we stopped for a while there.
me, as a kid: i canât wait til iâm an adult so i can stay up late EVERY NIGHT
me, as an adult, crawling into bed at 6:30 pm: oh thank god
