Okay I just finished 13 episodes of “Girl From Nowhere” and I’m specifically fascinated by the episode 8. This episode is something else, just like how TK was different and so much more than just another Nanno’s prey who she punished.
TK was not a typical shallow boy lusting for Nanno’s beauty or charm at the first glance. When he saw her at school, he stared in surprise at her for a moment because they had met before, but incontinently went back to his own world and ignored her, making her have to try harder to get through him. After that, whenever TK was with Nanno, “there was no sexual desire in his eyes like the boys in other episodes, he really treasured the moment of being with Nanno.”
Selfless & brave - ready to own up to his mistakes and facing the consequences of his actions like a man. We all know that Nanno did it to help TK but he didn’t know that yet, in his position at that time, all he possibly could see that Nanno set him up in the first place. But he never once be angry with her, he did not blame her at all even her “betrayal” could have ruined his life because he knew it also was his own choice and at the end he said he completely understood why she did what she did. On the other hand, TK was the one who asked her to let him take the fall alone if they had ever been caught, although it was clear that Nanno was the one who insisted on doing it despite his warning.
Respect woman’s consent and personal space. During Nanno’s journeys, all her physical intimacies were all passive, basically rape and without her consent. But in their first kiss, Nanno was the one who made a move first despite the fact that TK already looked at her like she was the only light he’d ever known, looking like he was holding back the thought of kissing her. This is also the first time Nanno had proactively kissed someone like that. Moreover, in the scene before she kissed him, when Nanno walked away, TK did not grab her, he touched her arm slightly then let go immediately. He also shyly let go of his hand touching her little finger when she asked him to.
Non-judgmental, embracing of his true self and not assuming the worst of people to show himself better than anyone else. That’s why Nanno could not bring the bad in him like everyone else because he’s the real one, not trying to cover his flaws by being fake. After being stabbed in the back, even Nanno didn’t give him any clear explanation, TK didn’t jump into any conclusion about her motives, and eventually “I understand. I understand completely” when reacting to her actions. “Maybe it’s good thing, he might use that money to improve the school’s facilities” is his thought of the principal taking money from the student’s families, a bit naive, but showing how pure he is as well.
Subtle and observant. TK actually the only one among her target who could see through Nanno. Just a few day together, even not knowing about her true identity, he could sense that she “would leave eventually when you have fun enough or are satisfied.” And he was rational enough to convince Nanno to quit the plan for her own good.
There’s no wonder why Nanno was different with him, because he’s not like anyone she have met before. Probably the only time she knew all human beings are not all horrible and selfish, as well as the only time someone truly cared about her, loved her, cherished her and made her happy like the way he did.
