And here comes Komachi, leaning on her scythe and smirking at the sight of one ex-shinigami at her post. "Well well. Hard at work instead of being suicidal? Awfully productive of you."
"Did I piss you off somehow or somethin’? Or did someone else just take a piss in your cereal?" Elly glared at Komachi, the other shinigami’s outright hostility putting her on edge immediately.
Ha, not for the money. She probably had plenty of savings. Or got paid well.
And to contrast ol’ stickler Elly’s pose, Komachi held out her arms in a “Well, whattya gonna do?” manner, while keeping her head down on her scythe to keep it upright, head still at a 90 degree angle. “What’s a girl to think, eh? You get bumped off the Yama’s VIP list, gotta go out in the big bad world with no purpose, lurking around some hermit’s lot…”
Who, evidently, had too much time on her hands. Even sideways, Komachi could tell that was a lot of sunflowers.
"…they normally move, right?"
Animate flowers? As in, flowers possessing mobility, or energy that allowed it? Oh that was way too much like a past incident. She’s gonna have flashbacks now! Good grief.
Despite what Komachi might think, Elly didn’t really ask for money. Room, board, and the ability to see interesting things happen. She did occasionally get cash to make a run to the village to buy food and supplies and what-have-you, though. “I left the service on my own, went out into the world to figure out what I wanted to do, beat the crap out of a powerful youkai who also beat the crap out of me, and then decided to work for her because she was interesting. And yeah, the flowers tend to move. It’s called the wind, you know. You might not get much of it down in Higan, but it’s pretty common out here.” The sunflowers weren’t actually staring…yet. Komachi wasn’t inside the fields after all, and so they simply swayed in the wind, like innocent little sunflowers.
Komachi angled her head properly to give the flowers a scrutinizing look. She could have sworn she saw movement. Like, turning. Maybe. Should she sleep more? Yeah, that'd help. Definitely sleep deprivation. Working so hard. So so hard. Sleep more.
"....yyeeeaah." Anywho, now she'd pretend they didn't exist because creepy possessed flowers in a hermit's yard. Youkai hermit thing. Whatever. Same difference.
"I thought," she began casually swinging her scythe onto her should to take slow, wide steps as she casually began strolling about, "that you left with, uh, assistance. Yknow? Like, from a boot. Or a big 'terminated' stamp."
The Yama normally wore sandals, right? Huh, you'd think she would remember from all the times she kept her gaze at her feet as she was being lectured. Probably. Boots weren't Eiki's style.
