#SANSA YES
every jonsa scene
I don’t understand why people hate Jonsa because “inscest”. Marrying a cousin in game of thrones is completely acceptable.
Sansa was literally betrothed to marry her cousin Robin Arryn earlier in the series, and it was thought of as completely normal. Tywin Lannister’s wife, Joanna, was a cousin.
It doesn’t make sense for Jonsa haters to scream inscest at this ship. They also claim that Jon and Sansa were raised as “siblings” which is SO untrue.
Sure, they were both raised in Winterfell as Ned Stark as their father, but Sansa barely thought of Jon as a brother. It’s mentioned in the books that since she was old enough to understand the word bastard she went around calling him her “half-brother”. She never once thought of him like she did Robb, Bran, and Rickon.
And the only sister that Jon ever thought of as his actual sister was Arya. To him, Arya was his little sister, and they even looked a lot alike in the books. Sansa and Jon look nothing alike, Sansa taking after the Tully looks.
So, yeah. The whole Jonsa-is-a-horrible-ship-because-inscest-thing is old, and a stupid argument.
Antis: GRRM would never have Jon fall in love with his sister Sansa so they could have beautiful babies together who look Tully and Stark.
GRRM: Sansa’s not his sister.
Where will we go?
Jonsa as the better version of the major canon couples on GOT
1. Ned and Catelyn 2.0
This is obvious. In terms of physical appearance and character traits, Jon and Sansa are dead ringers for Ned and Cat. But it’s their joint leadership over Winterfell that really brought us the parallels we’ve gotten from Season 6/7. They are meant to rule Winterfell the same way Ned and Cat had, instilling a rule based on justice, humility, and integrity. I’m so proud of my babies.
Why it’s so good: joint lordship of winterfell between these two brings their journeys FULL CIRCLE. They’re torn apart from each other only to be brought back together TO RULE the place they wanted to leave in the first place. Because why? They know better. It’s not just their outward journeys that are similar but their inner journeys. They had to go through all that and more to realize that what they’ve wanted had been there all along - a family modelled after their own, an image probably supplanted in their subconscious by what else but their parents’ (pseudoparents, in Jon’s case) beautiful union and upbringing of their children.
Plus, because history likes repeating itself, Littlefinger losing what he regards as another “Catelyn” to Ned Stark 2.0 is just the LOLiest
2. Jaime and Cersei 2.0
Okay, they’re not nearly as incestuous. But hear me out. Because they were raised as siblings, and STARK siblings no less, there is an issue of moral ambiguity here. BUT THAT’S WHAT MAKES IT SO GREAT.
Why it’s so great (and not just good): GRRM loves just straight up DELETING the lines between good and bad. In the earlier parts of the show, we’re given this idea that the “good” house is Stark and the “bad” house is Lannister. Sure, the idea is complicated more as we watch the show, BUT we still have it at the back of our minds don’t we? How cool would it be for GRRM to totally fuck up our ideas of what it means to be a Stark and tell us you know they have more in common with the Lannisters than you think. If you think about it, it’s so GRRM.
A Jonsa endgame would cast the two characters who have remained the most principled (Stark-like, if you will), in a COMPLETELY different light. This is so important, especially for Jon, who, at least in the show, can come off as a total Gary Stu.
3. Rhaegar and Lyanna 2.0
Sansa mirrors Rhaegar in that she loves poetry, music, and lore, while Jon is a lot like Lyanna, in that he’s a great warrior.
Why it’s so good: A Targaryen man falls in love with a Stark woman and vice-versa? An ill-tempered KING/ QUEEN wannabe tries to get in between them? A Jonsa endgame has the entire fucken story coming full circle FOR SURE.
MIC DROP.
Stannis: Kneel and live.
Y'all: What an asshole!
Stannis: *burns Mance Rayder alive for refusing to kneel*
Y'all: That's messed up! Stannis is evil!
Daenerys: Refuse me and die!
Y'all: YES!
Daenerys: *burns the Tarlys alive for refusing to kneel*
Y'all: QUEEEEEEN!
Bonus Round
Jon: But if you use them to melt castles and burn cities, you’re not different. You’re just more of the same.
Jon: *shoots Mance Rayder with an Arrow so that Mance doesn't have to die suffering*
Y'all: Jon will totally understand why Daenerys had to burn the Tarlys!
me, dumb: the cues embedded painstakingly into Game of Thrones’ decisions for cinematography, costuming design, scripts, and the ASOIAF text narrative itself clearly point to Jonsa being endgame
you, an intellectual: Betsy from Reddit is claiming Sansa will die for the fourth season in a row, it’s gonna be true this time
That’s the spirit! Delulu and proud of it!
#character development
Jon not laughing at Tormund saying, “the one who fucks her brother”, is very, very telling. He’s got, “I feel personally attacked” written all over his face in the 2nd gif. If Gendry laughing but Jon not laughing/not finding it funny, isn’t proof that Jon has feelings for Sansa (that he thinks he shouldn’t have because he doesn’t know that she is his cousin, yet), then I don’t know what is. He laughs just fine at Tormund mentioning Brienne two seconds later, but not at the mention of a brother and a sister being together… Think about this, Joe Dempsie (Gendry) was instructed to laugh and Kit (Jon) was instructed not to.
Now ask yourself:
What would make Jon not find it funny? Sansa.
Why would Jon not find it funny? He has feelings for Sansa.
Who would not find it funny? A man who is in love with a woman who, for now, he thinks is his sister.
Also, in the first gif, as soon as Tormund finished that sentence, you can see Jon sighing/starting to inhale, breath in quite heavily, shoulders visibly rising and all, which shows the subject brings him distress, and if you go and ask yourself:
Why would he feel distressed by it? The answer is the same as the first two questions above.
Winter is Here and so is Jonsa ❄️💙

Jon & Sansa + Visual Parallels [ 5x03 // 7x03 ]
“Winterfell is your home.”
“I’d like to leave.”
Jon’s face was me this entire video.
Sansa : no one can protect me.
Arya : anyone who disrespect my sis will hear about me.
I blame all those looks Jon gives to Sansa for making me ship this so hard.
Seriously I can’t understand the fans who say Jon and Daenerys are “equals” What? Upon their first meeting Jon’s weapons and boat were taken from him. Jon was unable to leave Dragonstone and was all but Daenerys is prisoner expect for in name only. Otherwise it could hurt her idea of being the “breaker of chains.” Even as late as episode 5, Daenerys tells Jon “I haven’t given you permission to leave.” That’s equal, huh? Jon was only allowed to leave because 1, he asserts his status as king. And 2, it was a plan that would benefit DAENERYS. No one else.
Daenerys also continued to ignore Jon’s title as King and would only refer to him as “My lord.” She would only take him seriously if he bent the knee to her. If he SUBMITTED TO HER. And don’t give me that line of “We will defeat this Night King. And we will do it together.” Because this promise of her “word” is tossed out of the window the minute Daenerys is calm and she goes right back to worrying about the throne.
Daenerys does not listen to Jon either. He tells her that if she melts castles and burns cities she is no different. How does she heed this advise? Flies on Drogon to burn hundreds if not more men and turn a field into chard bones and ash. She even lands right in front of Jon on Drogon for what reason? To immediate him? She asserts her power over him. How is that equal again?
She does not validate or even understands Jon as a person. She’s only fascinated by the tales of this man. The way Mel propped him up as the ice to her fire, and talked wonders of him. And how he came to life and the scars on his chest. He’s “special” just like she believes herself to be “special.” Their entire time together is Jon reassuring and sucking up to her. “You’re not like everyone else.” We never see Daenerys ever truly connect with Jon. It’s. Always. About. Her. I cannot stress this enough that is not an equal partnership. And that’s just the shit I could think of off the top of my head.
