wednesday ... things?
I knocked over the (tiny, cute) Christmas tree this morning and water went everywhere. Good job, Al.
I started a new book last night and of course I stayed up too late.
I didn't want to stay at work to work out last night, but I was feeling blobby so I did tabata squats, lunges, sit-ups, push-ups, hip bridges and plank. It was terrible. But also three cheers for working out while Scott and I watched TV.
Counting macros is going well, but I'm already getting a little stressed about going out to eat. We have a girls night thing for work on Friday and it's so easy for me to just say "eff it" when I can't track perfectly. Brain, stop being so crazy.
I think I'm going up to 90 for my push presses tonight, and that's real heavy for me.
We got an Assault bike for the gym. Someone tell me what to do on it. Thanks.
today i
Made chicken and rice soup Squatted 4x4 at 140 Wore my hair in a braid Didn't finish my coffee until 3:30 (and it was still warm, thank you Contigo) Worked out at 12:30 and definitely didn't shower after Hit my macros almost perfectly Came home to a clean house (perks of Scott being on vacation)
well well well
I haven't been posting my workouts lately. Partially because it's felt like extra work, especially since I write them in a notebook anyway, and partially because I've had a case of "not enough"s lately. You know how that goes, right? "I'm not good enough, not strong enough, not fast enough" and on and on.
Fast forward to today. I hadn't worked out since Wednesday and I felt like a pile of human goo. I somehow got myself to the gym (three cheers for Scott, who is sick but was a most excellent coach), and I'm so glad.
First, 15 minutes of hip and shoulder stretches with bands. Then:
Snatch balance: 15x5, 35x5, 45x3 (got nervous here, ha), 40x5, 40x5 with a 30-second pause at the bottom, 45x5, 50x5 paused, 55x4
It was my first time doing these with anything but the training bar (my snatches are a joke you guys), and I had a breakthrough at 50 pounds. I finally stopped trying to push the bar up and focused on dropping fast and locking out. Really proud of myself.
2 high hang cleans + 1 hang clean: 55, 75
Then 2 sets of 2 high hang cleans at 75 and 3 sets of 2 high hang cleans at 75. Felt really good and fast on these.
Hang clean: 95, 110 (PR), 120(F)
YAY. I finally PRd my clean, and it felt so good. Getting 110 up to my shoulders was easy. Standing up was the pain in the ass.
I got too much in my head for 120. I tried twice and I pulled it high enough each time. I just didn't commit to getting under it. Next time!
Finished off with ~2000 meters of rowing. Scott was teaching me his ways He can row a 1:35 split like it's nothing. I'm both impressed and envious.
Man, it feels good to make progress.
My aloe vera sprouted a tiny baby aloe vera.
The only acceptable day-after-Thanksgiving breakfast. Maple whipped cream! 🙌
I wonder how many rolls I can fit in my body.
Today calls for filling up the French press all the way. 🎉
why oh why
Do I feel the need to downplay my accomplishments? I wanted to post about how I just squatted 130 for 5 sets of 5 (that's all of Allie 25 times!), and immediately my brain goes to "But that's not that much."
But for me, that's a pretty damn good amount of weight. I felt strong and only struggled on a couple reps. So screw it. It wasn't just 130.
Next week is 4x4 at 140. It's nice feeling tough again.

I see things on the Internet like "wah my selfie doesn't have enough notes" and I just want to quit everything.

I won't talk about how cold it is. I won't talk about how cold it is. I won't talk about how cold it is.
Celeste sent me a link to this planner yesterday, then amandafestation tagged me in a post with it, so obviously I bought one. ~Consumerism~
Speaking of kilfudd, I'm so happy she's coming to see Scott me. Time to experience winter, Clst.
I had my boss over for dinner last night, and it went so well. I made braised chicken thighs over rice. Such good winter-y food. Braised chicken is my new jam.
I'm making smothered pork chops for dinner (good call sainttaco!), so obviously I'm excited.
Sometimes all I want to talk about is food, OK?
I whipped up this banana bread recipe but added some dark chocolate chips and made muffins instead. They're incredible.
I've knocked three things off my weekly to do list today, so I'm feeling pretty darn good about myself.
c u soon alliepets.
!!!!!
Breakfast is the best. Scrambled eggs with roasted sweet potatoes and cauliflower. And a really good cup of coffee.
I had a really good weekend, though I was a little sad when I woke up to Monday. It's rainy today, which always makes it five times harder to get out of bed.
My boss is coming over for dinner tomorrow, so I need to think of something fantastic to cook.
We got peach-mango SFH whey at the gym, and it's actually pretty delicious. Tropically. A little sweeter than the vanilla and chocolate but not so much that it's bad.
We watched "Prisoner of Azkaban" on Friday, and dammit, I love that movie/book. I wish Sirius was my uncle. Just kidding. Boyfriend.
Scott made us a weekly to do list (based on goals we each set). We used to always have one of these printed and taped on the wall in Phoenix. I'm glad they're back!
I finally (wo)manned up and used 85 pounds for hang power cleans during a metcon. And surprise surprise, I didn't die. Also, front squats are feeling better than they ever have. Come to me, progress.
Oh my god, Thanksgiving is next week.
