Wow. ~What a workout.~ I had missed both Monday + Tuesday because of #socialobligations, so I was getting antsy to get in the gym. But I haven’t been feeling well. Cool! So I didn’t have a lot of faith going into this workout.
Anyway, jerks were programmed for 3x3 and 4x2. I’ve only ever done 121 for two before … and last night I did 132 + 140. O. Then I did a bonus 147, ~just because.~
Cleans felt like shit. I mean, they were fine, but I just felt like I had nothing left. I could’ve done 132, but I wanted to save my remaining 3% of batteries for squats.
Then I finally maxed out my squat. 187 felt good, so I misloaded the bar (1.5 kilo plate on one side, 1 kilo on the other, lol) and made it happen. So that was cool.
Also, I effing hate when I write out a workout and it looks like I didn’t even do anything. Great stuff.
It's pretty cool when you can do doubles at a weight that was basically impossible for a single two months ago. 👌🏻

So, I’ve been doing Wendler again for my press + bench (and kinda squats). Listed were my working sets. These aren’t my best ~max reps~ but oh well. A few weeks ago I benched 77 for 15 ha. On Saturday I PRed my jerk, and my upper body was pretty tired, so I’m not too worked up.
I wanted to go up a little weight in bench, so I did 84 for 4 (failed the fifth), and then just did 94 ~to see~. My last texted max is 95, btw. All of my 1RM calculations put me around 110 though.
Relatedly: Bench KILLS my wrists. I could barely do the snatch PP after. And honestly, when I do those max sets, I usually have to stop because of wrist pain and not muscle fatigue. Halp.
I’m doing pause front squats because my clean is going nowhere fast, as is my leg strength. :upside down smile emoji: As per the suggestion of Al’s strong AF coach BFF, I’m doing sets of 3 and adding 5 pounds every week.
Also, on the ~gymnastics front~ look at me doing some skill work. (See pic, o.) Yesterday I did a power dip (o) and went down to about parallel for the first time ever lol. Sorry so phat. I’ve been working on these for the past month. Before I would just … fall after going down 3 inches haha. I truly think I could do a Real Dip now if I didn’t do 100000 bench presses to failure right before.
Gymnastics part 2: I got between 5-8 toes to bar each time. GO ME. Wow, I’m truly doin’ it. During the CF Open, I had to do singles, FYI.

70 kilo jerk 😎. Took the closest crack ever at 158, but was about 1 mm off. This is my fourth jerk PR in the past month! 148, 150, 151, 154. I know these are little bitch PRs, but I'm mostly impressed with how consistent I've been hitting these numbers. Really, really happy about how these are going!
Also, I feel like I am looking p gud lately? Like my weight belt muffin top is minimal lolol.
Wow, good things come to those who wait. (I’m back!) But really, I’m talking about my jerk ha.
Let’s take a look at my jerk PR timeline...
April 2014: 135
August 2015: 140
February 2016: 143
March 2016: 145
April 2016: 148, 150
I jacked my shoulder up rly good in 2014, and finally got it fixed up in the summer of 15. So basically I ... didn’t jerk in that year. Great stuff.
Me getting that 143 in February was kinda a fluke. Usually during that time, I could *usually* do an ugly 121. But 132 was a ~big deal~ and I basically would hit it 20 percent of the time ha.
Somehow in the past 6 weeks I’ve just ... gotten a lot better. I do 121 for a double every work out, and I can do it for three, too. I’ve hit 140+ every time I’ve jerked this month. Shit is truly crazy. I’m really not sure how my working weights have jumped up 10-15 pounds recently, but I’m really happy. I have struggled with my jerk for SO long; it’s excellent to feel like I’m not the worst and am making progress.
Sidenote: There are times now when the clean is tiring and the jerk is easy. Da fuq.
Also, maybe one day I will stop jerking on a tightrope. That day was not today, o.

so, i haven’t been sleeping. it’s great stuff! yesterday morning i was up from like 2:30 to 4:30 or some BS. today i woke up at 4:45. really loving not sleeping! o.

i’ve read 22 books this year. i didn’t read much at the end of last month/was trudging through a long book i didn’t really love ... so that slowed me down. ready to ~pick up the pace~ though. i wanna read 100 books by the end of the year. plz let me know if u have any must reads.
i have been in a real rut with food stuff lately. not sleeping really effs with my brain and appetite. cool!
my life just feels like a big ol’ sack of rotten garbage lately. anyone else?
