just like a real life thelma and louise | raegan & allie
Raegan knew she promised Allie a night on the town but right now, that was just about the last thing she really needed or wanted. But when she got the text from her, she really could not find it in her to turn the woman down, especially since she promised months ago that she would. And by now, Raegan was a little more adjusted to New York, not everything was as intimidating as she thought. This time though, she didnât have Justin as her trusty side-kick or as her knight in shining armor if things werenât going as well she hoped.
Justin was there the night at the bar when she was called out upon inappropriately, he was the one who stepped forward for her. But she felt somewhat comfortable with Allie, she hoped she wouldnât let Raegan get abducted and turn out like one of those CSI shows. Not only that, but she trusted that if anyone could get her mind off of how miserable she had been, it would be Allie.
But, it was safe to say Raegan was nervous. This was her first official night out, her mock-run with Justin ended shortly and turned into a one on one hang out in Central Park with was the opposite of a night out. It was relaxing and basically everything Raegan would choose to do if it was up to her. But the night was up to Allie, really. If Raegan was in charge, Allie would be asleep but eight oâclock, no questions asks. And for that, that made Raegan nervous. She honestly did not know what the night would bring and that terrified her.
As Raegan was getting ready, she halfway contemplated calling Allie, telling her she came down with the stomach flu and was unable to come out. But Raegan knew she had to toughen up and get over her pity party. Besides, Delaney already told Raegan she could text her if things go bad and she would come and get her or even if she just needed someone to text she was available to listen and take any form of drunk texting. If anything, Raegan knew Delaney would have been greatly entertained by them, if she opted to do it.
After checking her texts of where Allie told her to meet her, Raegan shot a text Allieâs way, letting her know that she was finally on her way out. Grabbing a jacket, she finally pushed her way through her front door.Â
She finally walked into the bar, easily spotting Allie. She was hard to miss, having such a distinct look compared to the rest of the folks in the vicinity, and especially to Raegan. Raegan hardly had any ânight on the townâ clothing, her main thing being really just a dark mid-length dress matched with a pair of cowboy boots.Â
âSorry it took me so long, my kittens kept trying to run out the second I walked out the door.â Which was not entirely a lie, it had happened in the past but not that night. The last thing she wanted to do was tell her that the reason for her tardiness was because she was half way debating on wimping out and staying in that night.
âYou havenât been here long, have you?â
For years, Allie Smythe had managed to repress the inevitable anxiety that came with getting ready for a night out. Sheâd consistently told herself to woman up and not be a wimp and to go out and have fun, and that voice had been a lot more dominant in the past than it was now. At this moment in time, the dark haired woman was seriously considering texting Raegan and calling the night quits. She didnât though, her thumb manically tapping the backspace button on her iPhoneâs keyboard. She wasnât going to give into fear because Allie Smythe didnât feel fear.
The number her fatherâs reappearance and done on her would be known about by herself and Conrad and the two of them only. No one else would catch wind of it, she should make sure of that. The embarrassment sheâd suffered at letting Conrad see her like that was enough to make her want to forget about the whole thing. Sheâd been humiliated and the hot shame sheâd felt seemed to be a lot stronger than her fear, which was ten shades of fucked up.
Not allowing herself to be controlled by her fear of her father, Allie was happy to convince herself that the man was nowhere to be seen. Heâd got what he wanted (or rather he hadnât, but he was sure that Toby had sent him on his way with a bloody nose), and was now safely back in Maine. To prove how completely unbothered she was by the man, Allie put on her reddest lipstick, her highest heels and her shortest shorts, determined to make a lasting impression that screamed âconfidenceâ.
Of course, that confidence faltered a little when she arrived at the club and Raegan was nowhere to be seen, but she stood her ground, ignoring the wolf whistles given to her and willing her friend to hurry up. She knew that Raegan wasnât the type to go clubbing and Allie wondered if sheâd been put off by the idea and was currently at home in her pyjamas. If she was, Allie almost envied her but, soon enough, there was Raegan hurrying over to her and a toothy grin nearly split Raeganâs face in half.
âRAE!â she yelled, waving her hand manically even though it was clear that Raegan had already seen her, and the womanâs eyes lit up when she saw the cowboy boots her friend wore. Immediately, she clapped her hand and threw her arms out, sending a declaration to the crowd of people milling around in front of her. âOkay, people! Make way, country cutie coming through!â
She waved off Raeganâs apologies about being late, a bright laugh leaving her lips when the woman explained the predicament with her cat and she simply shook her head.
âNah, I was running late too,â she said to put the Kentucky nativeâs mind at ease. She linked their arms together and dragged them over to the line outside the club.
âNow, if anyone gives you trouble tonight, give me a signal. Like, you pat your head and twerk at the same time and Iâll sort them out for you,â she promised, her confidence already growing in the company of the other woman. Now that she had someone to look after, Allie began to relax into the situation a little more and the night soon began to look promising to her.
