“Thank you. I’m completely lost right now.” Orion smiled back at her. He had been lucky to have found someone to help him, his sense of direction had never been good and being his first time in California he couldn’t have found himself more confused. 

Allison gave her a small smile as she started walking. "Where you from?" She asked to start the conversation, she didn't want to walk in silence with a stranger. "I'm Allison, by the way."

He was still tired after the trip and the farther he walked, the darker the sky seemed to get. He dropped his bags to take a look at the map he had picked at the bus station, trying to find the closest hotel. This was the moment he regretted not having called his siblings before making the decision to come here. Looking for the name of the street, he finally decided ask someone who was just walking by. “Hi, I’m sorry to bother you. Do you happen to know where is this street?” He asked, pointing at the map.

Allison was making her way toward her job, she was already running late and she knew this time she would get scolded by the manager. Still, she decided to help the poor boy, he seemed so lost and what harm could it be to be late another day. She looked at the map, giving him a firm nod as she looked around to see where they were standing. "It's close to where I'm going, You can come with me and I'll point you into the right direction." She offered the man a small smile.

He hadn’t been angry at her for months. Nico had almost forgotten all together about what Allison had done to make him hate her so much. Such a gentle spirit, he wasn’t even used to being so angry. But she reminded him of all the things he’d had to get over with the new year. “Then why are you even here?”

The old Allison would have bitten her lip and looked down instead of speaking her mind, probably it wasn't the best time to show her new personality, but she couldn't help it in the heat of the moment. "I used to live here too. I did think about not moving here because you would be here, but we are over, so I didn't see why I shouldn't move here again."

She rolled her eyes at his comment before letting out a chuckle, of course he was gonna rub that in her face and he had every right but somehow that made her feel frustrated and even upset. "You know, maybe you are right. Maybe I never gave a shit and I don't know why I'm here trying to have a civil conversation when clearly I don't fucking care." She said, her words left her lips without really thinking about what she just said.

“I try.” Alyssa said with a soft smile. This was strange. Alyssa was the type to freak out around women she found attractive, let alone have the courage to ask them out. She was always the one who watched from afar and imagined what it’d be like if she asked them out. Every time it ended in them saying no. That was just how her mind worked. “Oh. If you were t-to get another tattoo…W-What would it be?” She asked, her stutter surfacing a little again. “She was m-my ex…M-My first g-girlfriend…And um…Most recent.” Alyssa said, her gaze dropping as she felt embarrassment fill her body. She knew it was weird to have only been in one relationship in twenty-five years of life and she knew it was even weirder that she was still a virgin despite that relationship. “Well then maybe you should stop cheating and I wouldn’t have to call you one!” Alyssa teased back, a small giggle escaping her lips. “If you win. I’m calling beginners luck right now.” She exclaimed, no way she’d let a rookie win. “What do we get if we win?”

It was truly amazing how a few months can change a person, a year ago she would never have imagined she would be on a date with a woman but now it felt so natural, actually, she felt more comfortable around women now. She thought for a second about her question before shrugging her shoulders. "I don't know yet, but it must be something meaningful just like the one I have." She said, looking at her wrist where she had tattooed the name of her late sister, although she had thought about getting another tattoo she couldn't help but to have a bitter taste about the idea. Allison nodded, looking at Alyssa as she dropped her gaze. "It's alright. We all have a past. I know I do, and I think it's okay to sometimes miss them or think about them." She said, her tone soft and warm. "I'm not cheating! I'm just that good." A cocky smile gracing her features. "That's not fair. If I win I should be called 'Queen of Mini Golf' or something like that but not beginner's luck" She said, giggling. "Whatever you want. What would you like?"

“And what other reasons will you admit to?” She asked curiously, one eyebrow cocked, a playful smile on her face. “Thanks for believing in me Al.” Her voice carried a hint of a teasing tone but she said it genuinely with a small nod of her head. “I am, after everything I just want them to be happy and be able to do pursue what they want and all that. –It’s cool, I mean I’m sure you had your reasons for keeping to yourself. Hmm; I had a few places in mind, maybe Cabo since it’s closer and would be cheapest to get to. But also Maui or Puerto Rico.”

"You are really cool, and I love your attitude." She assured her with a firm nod. "No problem. I know I haven't been around the last years, but you can still count on me with anything you need." Allison said truthfully, shooting her a warm smile. "You are a great sister, I could never be that good with my siblings even if I love them but what you've done for them is amazing. — I've heard Cabo is amazing, the parties there are great. Those places sound great, as long as you get away of California beaches it should be considered a win."

“Because hanging out with me gets you access to plenty of booze?” She smirked at the other girl. “What do you want?” Camila asked as the bartender came over, and ordered her own drink. “That’s kinda what I’m working on now, so you could be right. We’ll see what happens though.” The girl was still a little wary of what the future held, but hoped that she really would be able to make it out one day. “They’re good, in school, working, doing their own thing you know. –How was I supposed to come visit if I didn’t know you were living there. Tell me about it, I’ve been trying to at least go on vacation for the longest time now. I need a damn break for like a week or two.”

"Yes, that's one of the reasons. I'll admit it." She said, laughing before thinking of what she wanted to drink. "I'll have a vodka." She ordered, smiling at the bartender before looking back at Camila. "Knowing you, I'm sure you will do it." Allison assured her. "That's great, you must be very proud of them. — Good point. My bad, I should have told you. Where would you like to go? You should take a week at least."

After letting her words sink in and looking at anywhere that wasn’t her, he finally looked back up at her last statement. Anger was boiling in the pit of his stomach, how dare she treat him with kindness? “Hey – do me a favor, Allison, don’t pretend like you care?” He finally said, “Just don’t?”

His reaction was what she was expecting, but somehow it still caught her by surprise. Her gaze fixed to the ground before forcing herself to look at him. "I'm not pretending. I do care." She said, the breath she had been unconsciously holding escaped in a quick sigh. "Just because I made a mistake doesn't mean I don't care anymore, okay?"

Alyssa’s soft smile quickly grew into a large grin and a deep red blush filled her cheeks. “Th-Thank you…That um…That means a lot.” She replied. “Um…I don’t know…It’s been five years, remember?” Alyssa said in an attempt at a joke. She watched Allison’s gaze and watched her eyes shift around. Alyssa was still confused as to how she even managed to asked a girl out in the first place, let alone someone who had so much beauty about her.  “Really? Well…One is always a good start. What is it?” She asked with a bright smile. At Allison’s question about ‘her’ Alyssa froze for a moment, standing completely still before forcing words out of her mouth. “Oh.. Um… No one… No one important anyways.” She stumbled out, immediately realizing how obvious it was that she was lying. “Well…At least she isn’t anymore.” She corrected, this time she was being honest. Amanda was part of her past. She couldn’t just live in the past and keep living out her life with Amanda in there. It had been five years. It was time to move on and she knew it. “I guess we will.” She said with a soft nod. Alyssa just watched in shock as she sunk it in her first try. “No way…You said you’ve never played mini-golf! You cheater!” Alyssa laughed and set up her own shot, mimicking her results. “And by that, I mean that’s only the first hole. It’s the easiest to sink.” Alyssa said, her cocky tone returning.

Allison gave her a nod, smiling at her. "You're right." She let out a soft laugh, feeling surprised that she didn't feel as awkward as she thought she would. Normally, on dates Allison was a mess, always saying the wrong things and not making sense, but right now she felt very calm. Her gaze dropped to the ground as she heard her question. "It's my sister's name." She replied, clearing her throat before forcing a small smile onto her face. That topic was not first date material, and it was something that Allison didn't know how to talk about, so she tried her best to pretend it was fine. She nodded, as her smile grew wider. "If she was important once, she will always be important. That's how it works, I think." She knew the feeling, but even if she knew it wasn't love anymore she still felt a strong connection toward her ex-boyfriend. Maybe that would change in a few years, but right now she was still trying to understand how everything worked. "Cheater? That hurt." She put her right hand on her heart as she gave her a small pout before laughing. "It was the first one, everyone can do it." She assured as she stepped aside to let Alyssa play. "We'll see how I do in the next ones."

“I-I know but… That’s what I mean… You just… You don’t treat me like… Some child… You don’t give me weird special treatment…You just…You treat me… Like me. Like…Like a normal human being…Which… Doesn’t happen a lot.” Alyssa tried to explain, stumbling over words as she went. “Y-Yeah… Um… It was…. Alright. But… It was a long time ago so… I don’t remember much.” She lied. In Alyssa’s mind previous dates weren’t something you elaborated on on other dates. She truly remembered her last date vividly. It was a sad time because it was the last time Alyssa knew she’d get to be held in her girlfriends arms. One of the last times she’d see Amanda before they went their own ways. It was the time that meant that Alyssa would have to move on and become a functioning person on her own, without someone holding her hand the whole time. “N-No! A-A… A tattoo um… License… Not… Not a tattoo certificate… S-Sorry… Um… A lot of tattoo shops want you to have at least a three year long apprenticeship as well as… 360 hours under a certified artist and around 50 tattoos… The 360 hours and stuff gets you your own license so… That’s where I met her.” Alyssa said, still remembering the moment clearly. “Good luck. While looking for someone to bring here, I got a lot of practice in.” She bragged, even though she was never very good at mini-golf and had only been to this course two or three times.

She took a moment as she let her words sink into her, she could understand what she meant. "I will never treat you like a child, I promise." That was all she could say, a truthful smile playing on her lips. "It's fine, either way we are not supposed to talk about previous date on a date, right?" She said, trying to lighten the mood as her gaze scanned the place, seeing other playing. Talking about the past was never a good idea, the past was painful and honestly Allison didn't see the point of thinking about painful things, plus that only made her feel guilty and she didn't want negative feelings right now. "Ah! I see. I just have one tattoo, but if I get another one I know you'll be the right person for the job. Her?" She asked before biting her lower lip, knowing that she probably shouldn't have asked. "We'll see if all the practice paid off." She said, looking at her before getting ready to hit the first ball. Putting the small white ball on the ground, it was an easy hole just a small ramp. She swung the club softly before hitting the ball that landed easily on the hole, a set of giggles left her lips. "Not so bad for a loser, right? Your turn."

She’d helped him, she was the reason and now he felt guilty for having this moment. Slowly, the rage bubbled back into his system. “Thought you had your life set in San Fran.”

The last months had been tough, although now she was starting to get used to her new lifestyle. Sometimes she thought that what happened in the following months after the break up were something she deserved for the way she had acted, but that was just an excuse because in reality it had been her fault and her poor judgement. "I thought that too, but that only lasted a few weeks." She explained, trying not to give many details. "It seems like you've been doing great, I mean with the business."

“ I usually tell ‘em to leave the bottle anyway, so that’s not a problem.” She said with a smile, signaling for the bartender to come over. “I mean, technically it is home, but I get what you’re saying. I don’t know maybe I’d feel the same if I had lived anywhere else.” Camila nodded her head along. “Normally I’d agree but since my obligations were taking care of my brother and sister I wouldn’t say that it sucked. The situation leading up to it though yeah that sucked. –Wow all this time you only been living like an hour away? I’ve been there before but not to live obviously, didn’t seem too bad out there.”

"Now I remember why I liked you so much." She said with a soft laugh as she looked around the place. "Yeah, you need to experience it so you can have the feeling. And I'm sure someday you'll be out of this place." She offered her a genuine smile. "I agree on that, taking care of the young siblings is always nice. How are they? — Yeah, only an hour away. You should've come and visit. It's not bad at all, I guess it's exhausting living in the same place for some time."
