Just trying my darnedest to locate a little inspiration on this rainy evening. Looking at work from one of my favorite artists, Franz Kline, and painting a tiny bit.

Working on a commission for a dear friend. It's making me think of Easter. Color theory never ceases to engage me.

Ochre is my favorite. Especially paired with periwinkle.

Desert Thoughts

It's white, mostly. And brown, And blue. There are other colors that are stand- outish, mostly put here by paint. But the tiny colors that exist naturally are stunning - tiny nuggets of glory and goodness - It provides a place to allow your eyes to rest and absorb life. Those are the reasons I paint. Those bits of beauty that are. Blue is color that exists here, mostly sky. Big gorgeous skies eat up this landscape.

And it continues to evolve.

It would be maddening to some people, to paint in this manor. But I find solace in the evolutionary process of painting. The experience should be considered art as much as is the object. 

Custom paintings are challenging because they compromise the process. They are a few steps from your comfort zone. They make you have butterflies in your belly and sometimes unsure of where to put your paint brush.

A painter with an audience is not always successful. Surely, this explains the attraction of the challenge.
