ACER CHROMEBOOK 14 REVIEW: YOU CAN BRAG A LITTLE ABOUT THIS LAPTOP’S LUXURY DETAILS
Chromebook can be a nonsense shoot. Very easily attracted by low prices, only to find their hands disappointing low-quality equipment. Acer also declare acer aspire notebook computer, however, you do not have to enter the Dell Chromebook 13 or HP Chromebook 13’s high-price territory to find a satisfactory solution. For the mid-range price (Amazon $ 286), the Acer Chromebook 14 offers you an all-aluminum chassis and a very nice display, even though its performance and other attributes are less visible.
THE CHROMEBOOK 14’S BEST FEATURES
Acer introduced Chromebook 14 on the all-aluminum chassis, this is a reason. Among the plastic competitors, the brushed metal case looks very delicate and feels great. Of course, these materials are also durable and lightweight, making the Chromebook 14 a comfortable 3.42 pounds in size according to Acer. AC adapter (typical black brick) and cable weighs 0.55 pounds. The size of the laptop is 13.3 x 9.31 x 0.67 inches.
An impressive 14-inch, 1920×1080 LED-backlit IPS display. Chromebook is famous for its normal screen with limited brightness and viewing angle. Most resolution is only 1366×768, which is sufficient in the 11-inch display, but when the 14-inch display on the show began to look ridiculous. The Acer Chromebook 14’s screen looks crisp and has very good maximum brightness (our measurement is 236 nits). A 170 degree viewing angle means it can be read from all angles and anti-glare coating is another big plus.
Higher resolution displays use more batteries. We used the Chromebook 14’s 3-cell battery, the 3950mAh battery and tested the 8.82-hour life using the Cr-XPRT 2015 benchmark. This is a long time, though not unlike Acer’s promise of up to 12 hours.
I never thought I’d love the laptop speakers, which is why the Acer Chromebook 14 is worth mentioning for the amazing benefits. Double set, left and right, provide good bass and stereo effects. You may still plug in an external headset, but if you have to use their speakers for a presentation, at least your laptop does not sound like a network chipmunk.
THE MORE TYPICAL FEATURES
I do not feel ungrateful about the benefits of Chromebook 14, but Acer seems to have put all these features into it, which means the rest of the Chromebook is not that noticeable. Anyone’s expectation is at least somewhat disappointed by the high-end look.
I’m particularly frustrated with the keyboard, which has hard plastic keys and a dazzling snap of an entry-level Chromebook, not what the Chromebook 14 should have. Big click board works well.
Direct connections are limited to two USB 3.0 ports (first generation, 5Gbps transfer rate) and one HDMI port. Although 32GB of eMMC storage is good, I think many users will miss an SD card slot – not on this machine.
Seems to drive the mainstream themes of Chromebook 14, here how it performs on OrtOnline, a WebGL test focused on graphics-intensive applications and games. Although it has a stronger SoC than the other two Chromebooks (except Dell), it scores the lowest score with the lowest scores.
THE PRICE OF NICE
Acer Chromebook 14 is about the look and feel. Aluminum housings and high resolution monitors do a lot of separation from its low cost cousins, giving you a better experience. You have paid a small amount of money for these two benefits. It costs more to get better performance and functionality, but Chromebook 14 represents a pretty attractive place for mainstream users.
