The Tragic Story Of Samael-401 or Samael Lockwood.
Samael Lockwood, was born during the War of Reach. Unfortunately his parents were killed not long after by an Elite scouting party, in their apartment complex. The leader of the party, Thaal Pavaame could hear the crying infant, the crying ringing in his head, following the noise, he found the infant among the bodyies of the humans slaughtered in the scouting raid; humans for so long he had seen as monsters and heretics.
The infant’s crying would cause him to collapse onto his knees as he stared down at the infant. His mind flashing back to being told his father had befallen the same fate as the infant’s parents. One of his party turned to him and said: “The Great Journey must continue. We shall go on ahead sir, you search for any survivors… That measly youngling it’s best to leave it here, one less human to grow up and fight against us.”
Thaal would pick up the infant and begin weeping.
“Never in my life fighting for the Covenant, fighting for The Great Journey, had I once considered - just as I fought to avenge my family, my loved ones… that my enemy was fighting for the same reason.”
He set the infant down and drew his energy sword.
“There is no honor in fighting for the Covenant! We are a race of warriors, not savages!”.
His eyes red with fury as he watched one of the party members return.
“These men of metal. “This great Demon” in armor clad in green isn’t the true Demon.”
He picked up his fellow Sangheili by the throat he staring into the eyes of his new found enemy.
“The only demon I see here is you…”
The struggling Elite stared back into his eyes, choking, he asked:
“Why?… Why forsake the Great Journey?”
Thaal responded with a chuckle, shaking his head:
“My poor poor friend, whether you joined this war because of Covenant dogma, seeking bounty and fame, or honor… There is no honor in what we’ve done over the of history in this war you don’t deserve a warriors death! You’re not a warrior you’re a savage like me, however I aim to change that but unfortunately for you… You won’t get that chance. I shall sever my ties with you, monster.” He drove his energy sword through the chest of his former Sangheili brother.
He returned to the infant and picked him up cuddling him to stop his stop crying.
“I must undo the wrong I’ve done. I shall return home to my wife and we shall raise this child as our own though since this child is not of my species I must find a human colony so I may find things to feed him. Though this will be hard Since the humans still see my species as enemies. But first I must get off this forsaken rock I’ve heard that the fleet plans to bathe this planet in fire. I must aquire a ship”
Soon he would start to hear footsteps nearing the apartment, presuming it to be his former party members or UNSC Marines. No matter which, he needed to move before he was either caught in a hail of bullets or melted by plasma fire. Thaal activated his Active Camouflage module he only had limited charge, just enough to get out of the city he was sent in to.
And so he did heading out into the rural parts of reach to secure a ship and finally return to his wife so they may raise samael who will fullfill the very traditions of his adopted sangheili parents and become a true warrior.
(Based on the reception I get I shall continue writing on this pardon my lack of punctuation or frivolous us of it in this story I never learned how to use semicolons or other forms of punctuation.)
