Joren had awoken that morning to word from the Maester that his wife and children had still not arrived yet. He tried not to dwell on that and instead, thanked the old man and went about dressing himself in silence. A few candles, stuck to the stone fire place with wax, flickered orange and provided him enough light to work in. The doublet he wore was plain black, the shirt underneath and of grey. He dressed simply, able to don a breastplate and gaunlets if needed. Around his waist, he strapped his sword âGreenpeakâ and donned a heavy leather coat and left his rooms. Winterfell was large and he had spent a lot of time here as a boy with his father, tracing the corridors with little else to do while his father held court with the old King. Now he knew them well, not as well as his own keep, but enough to travel by himself. Round the corner Joren came to a sudden stop, the other person catching his attention as he had yet to see anyone on his morning traverse to the main hall. It was early, so early that the sun was a slash of pink and orange in the sky. âI did not think anyone would be up at this time.â he called, stepping toward the other person.Â
Allyria was not always an early riser, but it seemed that as soon as she got married to Lucan and had responsibilities, she did not want him to see her as the fickle, bratty girl she used to be. Allyria had got up particularly early in order to go to the Godswood. The one the Eyrie could not compare to the Godswood at Winterfell, and the Godswood was the place where she felt closest to her mother. Allyria had prayed for abundance, for her father to become a just man, for another healthy pregnancy, and for the safety of her husband and son.Â
Allyria wanted to wake her husband up in bed with hot tea and fruits, though she was beginning to become a bit lost as she walked around the castle. It had been so long since she had visited her cousins at Winterfell, and it was almost as if she was in a dream, walking aimlessly trying to find the kitchens. Allyria turned around when she heard someoneâs voice call out to her. There was a smile on her face as she walked closer to the man, unsure if she knew him or not. âOh,â Allyria chuckled. âI wanted to rise early to visit the Godswood. It has been quite some time since Iâve been here, and I wanted to go to it while no one else would be there. Despite some people not keeping faith with the Old Gods, they do love to visit the Godswood for itâs beauty.â
