Name Change
I was originally Soulfully Green & changed my name to Alma Verde which is green soul in Spanish <3
I remember..
being put to sleep & a camera was shoved down my throat. After I woke up the doctor told me that I had stomach ulcers & GERD (Gastroesophageal reflex disease).*Ā
After hearing that I had stomach ulcers & GERD, I wanted to make better choices for my diet. I started to practice better habits. I started doing yoga, I researched better diets. I came across vegan & vegetarian diets. I wanted to make choices that were truly better for me at the core, better for my soul.
Iāve always loved nature and earth. The idea that nature is self-sustaining and pure is so intriguing. Take care of the earth & It will take care of us.
Iāve heard before once you pick up good habits more start to follow.
Yoga is amazing, I practiced for a few months, I felt a true difference in my body & me fully. I felt lighter, I was lighter. The symptoms of my stomach issues started to go away slowly until I didnāt have them any longer. I researched more into vegetarianism, more into the idea of plant-based diets. I learned that there is a lot of diseases that the animal industry is linked to like, heart disease & high cholesterol. Heart disease is the number one cause of death in America btw.
I started to share my findings with others, and I didnāt get the response I was expecting.Ā
People donāt like their ideas challenged & arenāt fans of change.Ā
I felt so strongly about the topic it become a moral value to me.
I still donāt understand if we as humans know that we can survive off plants & donāt have to murder innocent animals why do it then?? Why isnāt it more of a big deal? (I am very passionate about this, Iāll talk about it on another blog post lmao)
Conflicted. I felt so conflicted.
I have all this new-found knowledge & no one wanted to hear me.
So I created this blog! So people like you reading this can be inspired. People who want to be enlightened & motivated to be better versions of themselves. Ā
I am in no way saying I know everything about vegetarianism or yoga. I have a lot of experience & research invested in both topics. I genuinely want everyone to be the best version of themselves for them & the environment.

*GERD is This is a chronic disease that occurs when stomach acid or bile flows into the food pipe and irritates the lining.

What is Ego?
The ego is the mind's identity of our own construction, a false identity.
Ego is a psychological term popularized by Freud meaning the conscious (as opposed to the unconscious) mind, or the awareness of one's own identity and existence.
Your ego is your conscious mind, the part of your identity that you consider your "self." Not the same ego that means "full of thyself"
Eckhart Tolle is a spiritual teacher who loves teaching about the ego and the importance of living in the present moment.Ā In Tolle's book, "A New Earth" he talks about understanding the ego & how to separate our thoughts or inner self from overthinking.
Ā Some popular quotes from his book to better understand the ego:Ā
"The ego could be defined simply in this way: a dysfunctional relationship with the present moment."
"Ego arises when your sense of Beingness, of 'I Am,' which is formless consciousness, gets mixed up with form. This is the meaning of identification. This is forgetfulness of Being, the primary error, the illusion of absolute separateness that turns reality into a nightmare."
"Ego implies unawareness. Awareness and ego cannot coexist. The old mindĀ-pattern or mental habit may still survive and reoccur for a while because it has the momentum of thousands of years of collective human unconsciousness behind it, but every time it is recognized, it is weakened."
Why is the ego so hard to understand?
The ego is made up of many different beliefs that a person develops over their lifetime. The challenge of becoming aware of what your ego looks like becomes more difficult because our world does not bring attention to searching & taking the time to heal inwards.
We are attached to descriptions of our identity, such as "nobody likes me" or "My nose makes me look ugly." You can start to understand the signs once we notice certain thoughts. Anger towards a family member, or feelings of unexplained jealousy. These are false beliefs that encompass the ego. Once you have a better understanding of what the ego is causing, it becomes easier to separate your thoughts from your emotions.
If we learn to look at our thoughts instead of letting them define us, we can become free of self-criticism. When a thought pops into your head, just seeing it for what it is instead of letting it attach to an emotion. Ā The thought came from the self-sabotaging ego. Detaching ourselves from the false identity of the ego.
How to Disconnect from Your EgoĀ
According to Eckhart Tolle's teachings, you can begin to separate your true self from your egoic mind by observing your thoughts. This is called "watching the thinker." Thoughts come from your ego, making your ego the "thinker." The part of you that can observe your thoughts without attaching yourself to them is the "watcher," your true self.
Try this: think, "What will my next thought be." Sit in the stillness & pay attention.Ā Ā Notice that your thoughts will pause for a moment while you are in this state of stillness. You have just watched the thinker.Ā Ā
When you can understand that the watcher and the thinker are separate, then you can realize that you are not your thoughts. In moments when your mind is still and thoughts are quiet, you still exist & are still yourself.
As soon as you see your thoughts, you have separated yourself from them.
We have spent years building our egos self, living inside of them, and repeating them. Learning to separate false beliefs will take more than a few days.
Things worth doing take time.
What is Spirulina?
Many studies suggest that spirulina may be the single most nutritious food on the planet. Spirulina is an organism that grows in both fresh and salt water, often referred as blue-green algae. It became popular after it was successfully used by NASA as a dietary supplement for astronauts on space missions.

Great source of protein than most vegetables & itās also a good source of beta-carotene, various minerals, and some essential fatty acids.

Spirulina has been shown in studies to lover LDL (bad cholesterol) levels and triglycerides, while raising āgoodā HDL cholesterol. In a study in 25 people with type 2 diabetes, 2 grams of spirulina per day significantly improved these markers.

Since spirulinaās growing environment can affect its nutritional quality and taste, itās worth doing research into where a brand sources its product.
My favorite way to use it is to mix it in a smoothie.
A delish recipe you can use:
1 frozen banana
1 cup frozen mango
2 cups spinach
1 tsp spirulina powder
½ cup orange juice
½ cup plant milk of choice (I used oat milk, other options: almond, cashew, soy, rice, etc.)
½ avocado (pitted and peeled) OR 1 tablespoon almond butter
Blend this all up & add into 2 glasses to enjoy all the wonderful nutrients!

A plant based diet, yoga and meditation have been a passion of mine for 4 years. As well as nutrition. I absolutely love the idea of holistic health. Holistic health isĀ ācharacterized by the treatment of the whole person, taking into account mental and social factors, rather than just the symptoms of a disease.ā Itās finding a deeper healing then just big pharma prescribing us medication that ends up giving us more health issues in the long run. You ever pay attention to medication commercials? The consumers end up with more side effects then the original symptoms.
Itās embarrassing.
The idea of holistic medicine and healing is still so new. People are afraid of what they do not understand. Conforming is more comfortable.Ā
To be able to share my experiences with people and really get to open the minds of others is a dream of mine. Years of practicing positive thinking, mindfulness, ego, plant based eating, and self help really developed a healthy mindset.
A dream career of mine is to be a health and wellness counselor.Ā
