Digital Playlist

This experience of mine was really great. Creating our digital playlist is the most amazing part of this course. We enjoyed this course as this is really helpful in the new demands of education.

I've learned a lot of new online tools that we can utilize in our online classroom. I've also learned things to consider on making an online learning playlist for our students. I've learned tools can be used for online discussion, organized updating, and online assessments.

In choosing the tools I'll be utilizing, I consider the accessibility, especially for students, as most important. Not all students can afford high technology gadgets, so I wanna make sure that the online platform will be used can be accessed through any gadgets. Another thing is, how captivating it is for the students. It is important to make your students engaged on taking assessment and enjoying it at the same time.

This is our first time, and I can say that it's not that perfect but of course, we still made a worthy playlist to be used in classroom someday. This is just the beginning, many experiences will arrive and I'm excited to polish my playlist through those experiences.

Learning Digital Playlist

Digital playlist used in personalizing students' learning. It gives the students control over the activities of when they are going to do them in their own learning pace.

In my previous years, I have experienced this digital playlist in our Math subjects using Schoology. We were given a playlist and it depends on us of when are we going to finish certain task, of course within the given period of time.

But the thing now, we are the one who are going to design a playlist through Google Form.

Last lesson, our professor discussed of how can we used Google Form as our medium for the playlist. It actually amazed me that Google Form is not only for quizzes, survey, and the likes. I know, it's not only me in our class. This is what we are going to use with our chosen lessons, wherein, mine is Logic: Propositions and Symbols. It's actually a good tool because most of the students are aware of this platform. But then, another innovative thing, is the playlist. Another great thing about having a digital playlist is that, it is applicable and useful in today's set up.

As future educator, with unknown future demands and upgrading technology, I should be innovative, adaptive, creative, and flexible when it comes on designing learning materials, either face-to-face or online environment.

Planning

Taking part in an online class, as a student, is difficult, what more as a teacher? From planning the lessons, teaching, guiding students, checking homework and giving feedback, these are just some of the teacher's tasks. Speaking of planning the lessons, it is one of the important things in teaching. Planning the lesson for a day is hard, knowing the time limits and technical malfunctions, especially, today, in an online setting.

In our class, we are asked to design our instruction based on our chosen topic, to make a lesson playlist with the use of any online platforms that suffice the needs of the the activity/ies or discussion we will be having. We are asked to design for an asynchronous type of online class, Google classroom as my main platform. Lessons like instructional video, pdfs and activities links were uploaded in the said platform. My topic here is Propositions and Symbols.

This assignment of ours made us think and create how can we organize materials for the learning of the students.

FALSE INFORMATION

Some people tend to spread information without knowing the truth behind this. Spreading fake news can harm individual. It may cause fear and also, confusion.

As we are relying through information we get online, through social media or any search engines, it is better to be skeptical of the data we get.

Whenever we read information we think doubtful, do a quick search, or maybe check the source or ask for the source if it is not given/stated.

It is important to not get fooled. Save ourselves from fake news. Do research and background check. Seek for the truth. If ever you know that the information shared wasn't true, inform and alert others. If you weren't sure if the information is true, just do not share it.

Our last topic for Midterm in TECHNO2 discussed about false information. As our requirement, we are asked to evaluate online sites used in learning Mathematics. We are given the chance to choose our preferred sites to evaluate. We are given an evaluation form to be used. This form gave me insights of what things to consider in determining the credibility of the source. One of these is about the author, their credentials and expertise. In the information circulating, we should know who is the one posted it, is he/she credible to believe in? Or is the source where the information came from is credible? Should I recommend this one?

It's hard to be a gullible person, we should be skeptical.

INNOTECH

"Innovation as Early Preparation for Future Generation"

Assessment is part of learning process of students. This will help the teacher measures students' achievements and competency, as well as for students.

Another discussion was done which introduced another set of online platforms that can be used in the learning process, specifically, in the assessment.

Discussed also are the advantages of integrating technology or online tools in assessment. There are 5 advantages: (1) Provide Immediate Grading and Prompt Feedback; (2) Increase Student Engagement; (3) Get Detailed Analytics; (4) Support Educational Goals and; (5) Deter Cheating.

The example tools that we've used in our previous years promotes these advantages. For example, Google Form, it is a good tool to provide immediate grading on the students' assessment, and Flipgrid for different kind of feedback. Another one is the Ed Puzzle, we can use this to get detailed analytics, for example, how look they took the quiz or activity. In supporting educational goals, it depends on the goals being set by the teacher in a specific task, for example, enhancing critical thinking skills of students and increasing engagement. In increasing students' engagement, we can use the Quizlet, Quizziz and Gimkit, the teacher can create assessment in the form of game, wherein students can boost up. Also, we can deter or prevent cheating with the use of online tools, and one example we used is the exam.net.

Exploring different online platforms is a good preparation to be ready in building the future generation.

Reality of using Augmented Reality

Pre-Service Teacher Experience

The evolution of technology is indeed inevitable, especially, it's infusion in education. A lot of online platforms are available, and most of them are accessible. There were online platforms for motivation, lesson proper, for assessment purposes, even for individual and collaborative works. One of these platforms is called Augmented Reality.

"Augmented Reality is any technology/application that augments user's visual (and sometimes, also auditory) perception of the environment." - The Augmented Reality for Enterprise Alliance

Our discussion and activity of how can we integrate Augmented Reality in Teaching Mathematics made me realized these:

It helps educators to make and keep students more engaged by incorporating classrooms activities. As how it was define, digital images were render onto real-life objects. It provides visual representation that can be useful in imparting knowledge and making an interactive discussion.

Though there are some disadvantages of using these, like some of these are not available for all, if it's technology, it could be expensive, if it's an application or online tool, they might crash and sometimes, require good connection.

With these above-mentioned disadvantages, as future educator, I should be ready for plan B, C, D, or more; also, I should have a good lesson plan with the proper integration of Augmented Reality that will make the learning interactive and substantial. I should be wise of choosing what to use.

As pandemic brought us here, we need to be innovative of what resources we could rely on to help our students continue the learning process. These resources should be accessible to all.

The fact that technology continuously evolving, we, teachers, should be prepared of the changes and unknown tasks we might encounter in the next few years. We need to be creative, resourceful, innovative, flexible, and adaptive with these new demands of education.

Our last topic gave me lot of ideas of online platforms that can be used in online classroom.

There are for motivation, lesson proper, for review and drill, individual and collaborative works, also for assessments and homeworks.

There are Mentimeter, Kahoot, Quizziz, Gimkit, Zeetings, Google Classroom, Schoology, Ed Puzzle, PowerPoint presentation, Google Docs, Goose Chase, and Pear Deck. Some of these were already introduced to us and were explored by us. We can use them for classroom management and in the flow of delivering the lesson.

These online platforms are good help for us to allow us deliver our lesson real time. As early as now, we should try to explore these things and innovate more for the future preparation.

The Future of Education with Technology Integration

The evolution of technology plays a huge role in every aspect in our lives, just like it’s impact and infusion in education is indeed inevitable. As this evolution happened and continue happening, are we, teachers, ready? This made me ask myself, as future educator, am I ready to face new demands in education? Especially, with the needs of future generations?

In our topic Principles of Instructional Design, our professor asked us to answer the Technology Self-Assessment Tool (TSAT) wherein it is designed for teachers to determine their level of technology proficiency. This technology instrument has four mastery level, Early Technology, Developing Technology, Proficient, and Advanced. Each level consists of three standards, Technology Operations and Concepts, Ethics and Safety, and Teaching and Learning with Technology. At first, you need to answer the Early Technology level, in order for you to move to the next level you need to get 100% in each standard, if not, meaning your technology proficiency is at Early Technology. In my case, I’m not that surprised that I’ll be on that level. I may know the basics of software, but how about the hardware? I may know the ethics and how to use technology responsibly, but are those only the things I should know? There are some ethics and safety concepts I didn’t know. And in integration in teaching and learning, as future educator, I don’t have enough experience and background executing the use of technology in the real classroom.

Our topic and my results in TSAT made me realized that even if I was born in 21st century and getting along and being exposed in digital society, I still have a long run before achieving Advanced as the future will have students who are born in digital era and possibly, much more exposed to the new sets of technological advancements. This will be a note to me that I need a lot more training, exposure, and experiences, as I believe that we are the future of future generations. Additionally, our topic also tackles about the Instructional Designs and Frameworks for Technology Integration, which the both of these are highly needed because it will help me to design instructions to have systematic process of learning with the use of technology that will cater the students’ unique needs and enhance their learning experience in a broader classroom environment.

In the situation we have, almost all of us are relying in Technology to access education. What we need to do is to explore and innovate. In this concept map, I put myself as a teacher and think of possible ways to teach Probability of Simple Events online in a Constructivist Perspective.

What I did is an activity wherein the students were asked to do certain task to explore, first, then the teacher will discuss that will help them to draw conclusions based on the activity with the help of guide questions. Examples of guide questions are: “Whose name most likely to be picked?”, “What is the probability that your name will show up?”, “What is the least possible score?”, “What is the greatest possible score?”, “What do you think is the most likely total score to show up?”.

The intention here is not just passively gain knowledge but to make students explore, think critically and analyze, and engaged in activities.

Balanced Traditional and Online Learning

Technology plays a huge role in our classroom settings today. We cannot deny the fact that technology really helps us make things more convenient. It gives us easy access from different resources. If the teacher wants the students watch any educational clips, there's these different search engines. Classroom management can be done online. Exams, quizzes, or activities can also be done online. But how long can we take all of them pure online?

Let's picture out some of the scenarios happened through face-to-face learning.

Can you still remember how your teacher made you see the first drone flying in your class? Trying to get the attention of those who are in back chitchatting. Can you still remember being asked to list down noisy classmates while your teacher attending meetings? Can you still remember having a recitation then you raised your hand even if you didn't know the answer or looking away to avoid being called? Can you still remember the moment when you have to attend practice for Physical Education after a long class? Can you still remember hang out with your friends after examinations? Can you still remember that you asked permission from your teacher telling her that you'll go to comfort room but then you went to canteen? Can you still remember them?

Now, let's picture out being in an online classroom.

How do teachers try to get students' attentions? How can we know if the students are paying attention? How is the new normal chitchatting? Through messenger? How's the recitation online? There's this "raised hand" button and if you don't want to be called, do nothing? Or there are some who press the leave button when the teacher is ready to ask questions? How did you do your Physical Education's activities? Did you post it online? Did you feel some annoyance with yourself knowing that you didn't know how to dance and now it is being shared online? How you treat yourself after examinations? Or maybe during examinations and class you're treating yourself foods? Lastly, you don't ask permission to go to comfort room, you can carry your device there, just you need to turn off your camera and microphone, of course.

Having online is what we need now, having face-to-face class is what we demand, but having both can leverage both digital and human-driven education offer.
