Is it bad to kinda come up with an idea for a Sly level? If anyone’s already done this then just let me know but like I got this idea for a theme park episode, these are just a few things that just came to mind and are a bit of fun.
Imma put it below because it’s a lot and I don’t wanna annoy people with it but at the same time, this just hit me and I really like it. Also apologies in advance for my bad writing or any spelling mistakes. Ya boi be dyslexic and while I’ve tried reading through it to check I’ve probably missed a few.
‘Who the villain of the episode is’ or ‘what the entire plan for the episode is’ I got no idea, thought I’d think about it like design first then figure out the story interaction later down the line? I’m also not sure when this level would take place or if it’s just Sly, Bentley or Murray, or if it’s the full Cooper Gang.
But I like the idea that it’s a hub world with smaller parts in it, similar to in some theme parks there’s split off themed sections.
You could have to safe house at the once side of the level and you get to each section via a path and there’s a big statue to help you navigate to that meeting point. Or maybe there’s a rollercoaster that runs through the whole park and sections which is a nice quick route back? Maybe it’s got some loops in it or something and you gotta railslide on it? Or for Bentley and Murray there’s like some old carts you can use to go on it?
Maybe there’s a haunted house themed section? The place is meant to be all spooky but had the same feel of most haunted houses where its so over the top and stupid that you can’t really get spooked by it at all. Like you’ll be walking around and maybe some bad cutout pictures of ghosts or witches or vampires jump out but it’s predictable. Maybe there’s a mission (a turret mission even though I hate them) where you get in a rollercoaster cart and have to shoot a set amount of targets or enemies as possible while the cart moves from room to room?
Maybe there’s a circus section? Not hugely sure about this one but I really like the idea of a costume Sly has being a clown one? Or when playing as him you can swing around on those acrobatic swings and get to points in a circus tent?
Maybe there’s a space section? Tried to badly replicate a typical space setting and there’s planets hung around with badly painted planets? Maybe there’s like those spaceship rides you find at like supermarkets or in shopping centres and they’re dotted around where if you give it 2 or 3 coins, the character will sit in it for, idk, 30 seconds and it just sways back and forth (a pointless aspect but shushies I know)?
Maybe one section is an aquarium part and (if it is a level involving the full gang) you cause use Dimitri to swim through the tanks while another character goes through some tunnels and does things outside the tanks and you switch between characters? And you can see that character through the glass?
Maybe there’s an abandoned section somewhere? Like it isn’t shown until later in when taking some pictures. Maybe you have to sneak in and retrieve some one mechanical parts to use later in the heist? Or when you’re in this section it’s very dark and quiet and there isn’t really and guard but certain platforms can’t be stood on because they’ll break or you have to avoid falling building parts?
