I got a Book Deal.

Just felt like you aught to know. I’m co-writing a young adult novel with a small team and I am freaking out about it every morning. The Security job I’m working at still kicks ass, and my supervisor lets me work on it from my cubicle. I really do have to thank my RP career and everyone who supports/supported me in the past. Without all of you and Amberstaff at my back and being the wind under my wings, I would have never gotten this far.

May I present to you, the Magic of WoW Discord server. Home to already 100+ participants, some lurkers, and some more active than others. And we actively welcome both types, and many more types of people into our lovely home.

A welcoming community that is open to all that wish to join; all factions, all races, and all servers. We are here to listen to your inspirations, hear you gush about your muse(s), have in-depth lore discussions, discord RP with other members, advertise your guild or group, and possibly get some networking done.

► Who is welcomed? 

EVERYONE! Spread the word! Tell your friends! Hooray! A discord that we can all banter about the wonders that WoW magic is. That being said, we are not limited to magic users, other non-magic members are always more than welcomed. That being said, rules are always in order.  

► Some Rules to Follow.

No discussion of real world religion or politics in any channel.

No harassment, slurs, or discrimination of any kind. This includes race, gender, orientation, religion, etc.

Keep your debates civil, including those about lore or anything magic related. If you cannot keep it civil, please move it to DMs. If you are asked to stop, then stop.

Try not to disrupt ongoing conversations. If you have something unrelated to say, please do so in another channel or wait until the current conversation has finished.

No talking poorly of other guilds, players, characters, or groups - even and most especially when said player or leader is not here to defend themselves. We are a positive and encouraging environment.

Similarly, not everyone will like each other and that’s okay, but leave your issues at the door when you join.

If evidence is presented to the mods of you harassing another member, you will be removed.

In simpler terms, Be excellent to each other.

► Discussions

Any and all, headcanons are accepted, thus extending to the discussion of it. While you are welcome to debate it, the second it becomes hostile, is the second it needs to end. You do not have to follow their headcanon, but do not bash them for it. Simply move on. 

As always, the Mod team will have a final say on everything. And the issue should not be brought up after said final say. Though, our DMs are always open if something is really bothering you.

Can a Warden be male? Like I know that most Wardens are female, but can there be a male Warden? Or is it just a female-only thing?

Reason why I’m askin’ is because I want to make a male Warden OC buuut I don’t want him to be like OOC or something-

Hello! So I’m not much of an expert on this, but my friend is, and I asked him what he knew. 

According to him, based off of what’s in canon, there are no male Wardens and it’s a female-only thing. Yes, the RPG does appear to have a single throwaway line about how not all Wardens are female, but as the RPG is no longer canon, it cannot be used as proof that there are male Wardens, especially when the only NPCs we ever hear about/interact with are female.

Blizzard has had multiple opportunities to flesh out the Wardens and specify whether or not they accept males in their ranks, since the rest of Kaldorei society has been addressing gender restrictions ever since the Third War. One could argue that if the Sentinels, another all female fighting force, are now accepting males into their ranks, why not the Wardens? One could also even propose that, with the death of so many Wardens after the events of Wolfheart and Legion, they would now be more willing to accept males into their ranks. 

My friend did point out, however, that even though Jarod Shadowsong was given leadership of a group of Watchers at the end of Wolfheart, he is never referred to as a “Warden” or “Watcher” (although here my friend goes on to argue that the Warden-related events of Wolfheart are directly contradicted by Cataclysm, Warlords of Draenor, and even Legion content, so take that as you will). 

Even though there may not be anything about it in canon, that doesn’t mean you can’t roleplay it. I’ve seen tons of male Warden/Watcher elves out there and, unless the Wardens are content to die off, I’d say these dire times and changing societal norms may well call for a new group of Wardens.

Lore Fact of the Week #20

The epic cosmic clash between the Light and the Void at the beginning of the universe created multiple dimensions, including an astral plane that would come to be known as the Twisting Nether. Both the Light and Void still continue to collide and bleed together at the edge of this realm, making it a very chaotic and dangerous place [World of Warcraft Chronicle Volume I].

The Twisting Nether is not to be confused with the Void or the Great Dark Beyond, although it has often been mistaken for both. The nether is sometimes referred to as “a void” or “the void,” but it is a separate dimension altogether that exists on the periphery of the void realm [Illidan, Chapter Nine, NPC: Archimonde Dialogue, Twitter: Jeremy Feasel]. The Great Dark Beyond is also an entirely different dimension. It encompasses reality and physical outer space, whereas the Twisting Nether is but an astral plane that exists outside the physical universe [World of Warcraft Chronicle Volume I]. Because planets exist in both the nether and the Great Dark Beyond, it’s no surprise that they’ve been confused for each other [Audio Drama: A Thousand Years of War, pg. 1].  

All universes created by the Light and Void bleed together in the Twisting Nether [Audio Drama: A Thousand Years of War, pg. 7]. The nether can create strange mirror reflections of real worlds and some warlocks even believe that a part of everyone exists simultaneously in reality and the nether [Audio Drama: A Thousand Years of War, pg. 7, Item: Void Totem].

When Draenor was destroyed, the space around the planet bled together with the Twisting Nether [Audio Drama: A Thousand Years of War, pg. 6]. Argus is also said to be in the nether [Audio Drama: A Thousand Years of War, pg. 31].

Time passes exponentially faster in the nether than it does in reality [Audio Drama: A Thousand Years of War, pg. 12]. An analogy in A Thousand Years of War is given to describe this unusual phenomenon:

A giant ocean appeared, and Alleria and Turalyon gazed upon a massive vortex disturbing the waters. The whirlpool carried two pieces of driftwood, one at the edge, where the water was calm, and the other near the center. The one on the outside drifted slowly, lazily. The one in the center was violently tossed about, circling the vortex countless times. Storms roiled the waters, jarring the currents, injecting ever more chaos into the system. Turalyon slowly began to understand. The same ocean, the same waters, yet affected differently by the same forces. Azeroth moved more slowly than the turbulent parts of the universe [pg. 12].

When Alleria and Turalyon were in the nether for over forty years, only two years had passed on Azeroth [Audio Drama: A Thousand Years of War, pg. 7].
