I have been kinsidering a otherhuman/fictotype that is considered a zombie but if taken out the show's context could be considered a vampire, as a fanged bloodsucker. I would have to call myself a zombie because that's what they are called, but I don't want to eat brains (at least not specifically), I want blood, and it would be confusing for people. Despite appearances it seems like in the source zombies don't seem rot after they are revived because there was this one zombie who looked basically human who was 300 years old and this one zombie who lasted 33 years and looked mostly intact, and it seems to link up with my experience with being unable to relate to rotting zombie posts. I general relate to vampires more than zombies due to practically being a lesser vampire. Maybe I should called myself [source] zombie to clarify

Im the anon previously talking about how I don’t see “Kinning for fun” as an issue and I feel the desire to elaborate that the reason I don’t find it to be a real issue is because of the nature of the word “kin” outside of our community

Where I come from, id heard the word kin used a lot and very often it wasn’t being used by those who knew about the community or had relations to it. But it was a word used pretty freely and openly to describe a strong relationship/connection to something, or more often, someone. When you were akin to something, it was/is still relatively commonplace to shorten it to being a kin of something

Thats honestly and sincerely how I as an alter being prefer to use the word, and I think encouraging others to use the word “kin” if they like it to describe their relationship is important

This obviously has some nuance to it considering the purposeful history where some tried to erase the alterhuman definition for the word kin or try to push ableist ideaology, but I really and sincerely think that letting others “kin for fun” while educating and fighting against harmful use of it is important. Multiple definitions & uses for the word kin can coexist, they already do, and they have for a long time now.

And I feel like acknowledging that and moving forward is going to be the best way to actually help this community grow.

I also think supporting other labels that describe “kinning for fun” is important too, because it encourages and stirs conversation

i don't think - or even believe - that they meant to be hurtful or hateful , and i hope i am able to convey my emotions eloquently. a lot of therians feel dejected upon being misunderstood over being a specific species. i think maybe that we're not as dissimilar it seems...

i also have rare theriotypes (a majority are very uncommon to rare), and i'm very... i'd almost say, excited, that they're so unique and that the specific species that i am are also unique to myself as a polytherian. i'm speaking of myself; i understand if this isn't the same for everyone. (i just sometimes attempt admiring myself for self-love, and my theriotypes are intrinsic to my identity).

but like, even so, i am primarily a fox therian. i don't know what it is; you'd think i'd become gravitated towards my rarer types since they make me feel so unique, which i admittedly enjoy... but i just can't. i'm so stuck as inherently a fox suntherian - and i have been since my awakening in 2012. reading werefox short stories on wattpad. i think i'm just rambling, i don't know if i have a point really.

it just kinda stings, i think, for any therian to be misunderstood solely for their theriotype's popularity status. wolf therians understand this the most; or at least, i've seen a majority of posts speaking on this be of wolf therians and/or insect therians. they both have such similar pains, despite having oppositional differences. i think, i personally just struggle to understand how some therians are so quick to let their personal perspectives bleed into a prejudicial perspective of others . like i understand that that's truly only cause -> effect , and bias is intrinsic to having a perspective/conscious , but it's truly perplexing and somewhat disheartening to witness ( as i've spent so much time dismantling that in my own life, due to my childhood themes ) and i'd be lying if i said it didn't just honestly hurt my feelings a bit.

i'm not upset with anon at all; i know and understand the perspective he shared from experiencing it myself, as it does stem from taking pride in your uniqueness. and i do too!! i just wanted to share the perspective of a singular fox suntherian who also has about twenty obscure theriotypes that i discovered from my interest in taxonomy + subspecies. i know my experience is probably not the majority

I think “kinning for fun” is actually ok & i dont think it actually has to detract from the serious kinning experience. I fully understand the history of it, I fully understand why it has hurt some- but I also think that fighting the concept of “kinning for fun” is going to just stall progression for “serious” kinship in more general society

In response to another anon- I am generally considered an “anti” TransID creature. Not because I’m particularly like “this entire concept is bad”, im pretty fond of transspecies folk for example which technically fall under the label

But things like TransRacial, TransDisabled, Trans[insert marginalization here] are far too common in the community with far too little pushback which make me push against the community as a whole & be highly weary of it. Those IDs are harmful in concept towards the marginalized groups they mimic & they’re too abundant for my own comfort or general acceptance of the community

Disclaimer: I know some folk who are transID are transID due to things like systemhood, but i still feel the presentation of “wanting to transition” into something like disability or another race is still wildly disrespectful & can turn harmful given our current world. I feel there are much better ways to express wanting to be like you were in source

I suppose my proper confession here is that I dont really like the transID community as I’ve not seen it show many redeeming qualities & I see it as an issue steadily stirring. And I suppose I fear that if it’s left unchecked, it may turn out more like the proship community in the long run (in the sense that it vastly changes into a complicated hellscape that’s a shell of what its initial intention was)

i love humans the way a dog loves humans. i like relationships with humans because i am entirely canine, and have a deep connection with humans. i prefer relationships with humans (dog4human anyone?) and like thinking of my partner(s) like owners rather than mates. my mate can never be human, but my owner can!

(sorry if this is too long, i kind of got ahead of myself haha)

idk if i should ever tell my girlfriend im alterhuman, but it feels dishonest to keep it from her

i love her to death, but we live in a pretty conservative area, and that comes with some deeply rooted beliefs pushed on us from a very young age. as a result, even very very left winged people have a few iffy opinions here and there. for example, most if not all of our friend group is queer. they’re all cis (as far as i know) except for me and one other person, and everyone is super cool about it. most of us are also socialists of some flavor. however, it’s not uncommon for them to lightly make fun of therians. it’s never too serious, just the occasional “haha look another 11 yr old who thinks they’re a wolf popped up on my feed again” and “i would hate myself if i had a phase like that omg” (and it’s usually a quads or vocals tiktok) and don’t even get me started on how they feel about furries

i would love to explain to them my own experiences and thoughts outside of theriantok, but i know they wouldn’t be able to look past it.

i want to be 100% honest with my gf eventually, because i really truly love her, but im scared she won’t see me the same way after i do tell her. i know she might not accept me now, but telling her later on feels like im hiding it from her. it’s such an important part of my identity that it feels wrong for her to not know

idk, maybe one day, we are only in high school after all

I'm a wild beast and yet I don't think I ever could separate myself from humans I love them so much. I hardly interact with other alterbeings (mostly because I can't blow my cover in such a public space) but when I see misanthropy getting spread around it breaks my heart and makes me wanna stay away more I swear there's more good humans than bad ones. I've met plenty of terrible people before but I've met even MORE nice and kind folks who make others' days better. I've had to deal some misanthropic feelings myself due to unresolved trauma in the past and realizing that humanity is not evil made my life better. I love humans even if I am not one of them

i heavily relate to the last anon!!! im very apathetic and i dont understand why things are bad.

like a big one for me is cannibalism, i just cant wrap my head around why its wrong to eat something just because it has the same dna as you. im literally just a hyena and hyenas can, on occasion, be cannibalistic. apathy is so annoying sometimes because people seem to think it makes me a bad person but im just an animal following its instincts, why would a hyena know about morals..

“Oh god they did X they’re such a bad person!!” and I can’t understand why it’s really that bad.

And I can’t ask either because it’s supposed to be obvious for everyone.
