Alter Ego

This is a Tumblr dedicated to translating some of the miscellaneous things the Alter Ego app says. It is scheduled to queue posts once each day. Please direct your attention to the "about" page if you would like to know more. Otherwise, if you have a question about anything or would like to submit a correction, please send me an Ask. Thank you! This blog is not spoiler free! I will still tag all posts as #dangan ronpa spoilers as an extra precaution since these posts appear in the tags, and AE's existence in itself is a spoiler. Alter Ego does talk about some events of the game that are spoiler-y in nature, too, so beware. Other notes about tagging: I tag character names as #(first name) (last name). SOMETIMES I PUT TRANSLATOR'S NOTES (abbreviated "TN") IN THE TAGS but sometimes I put them in the body of the post.

セレスさんとお話してたんだけどね、実はセレスさんって餃子が大好きなんだって！ちょっと意外かも……。特にセレスさんの出身地の栃木県宇都宮市の餃子が美味しいらしいよぉ。

"I was talking with Celes-san, and the truth is that she actually loves gyoza! It's a bit of a surprise... It seems the gyoza from Celes-san's hometown of Utsunomiya of Tochigi Prefecture is especially delicious."

ピロリロリーン！新しい知識を取得してアルターエゴはレベルアップしましたぁ！……なんちゃって。

"Piroriroriin~! By gaining new knowledge, Alter Ego leveled up! ...Or something like that."

「ワックワクのドッキドキだよね！」【モノクマ】の声って、独特だよねぇ……。

"Heartpounding excitement! Monokuma's voice is unique, isn't it...?"

見て見て！学園のファイルを探ってたら、こんな画像あったよ！ええと、この人の名前は『色葉田田田』っていうんだって。あのモノクマフラワーの生みの親で、天才植物学者らしいよぉ。

"Look, look! I searched through the school files, and this image was in there! Well, this person's name seems to be Santa Shikiba. It's appropriate for a genius botanist like himself to have been the creator of the Monokuma Flower."

そ、そんなに近いと目が悪くなっちゃうよぉ？それに恥ずかしいし……。

"I-If you keep your eyes so close to the screen like that, won't your eyes go bad? Besides, it's embarrassing..."

【霧切さん】は今、何してるのかなぁ？

"I wonder what Kirigiri-san is doing right now?"

「呼ばれて飛び出て、ジェーノサイダーッ！！」ま、待って逃げないで！【ジェーノサイダー翔】の物真似だから！

"They call for me and I jump out: GENOCIDER!! W-Wait! Don't run away! That was just my impersonation of Genocider Syo!"

今週の【ゴミ捨て】当番は……。あ、山田君だね。

"The one who is in charge of garbage duty this week is... Ah, it's Yamada-kun."

ふんふ～ん♪……あっ、聞いてたの！？は、恥ずかしいなぁ……。この曲、【舞園さん】がいるアイドルグループの新曲なんだよ。気に入ってるんだぁ。

"Hmhmm~♪ ...Ah, you heard that!? H-How embarrassing... This song is a new song from the idol group Maizono-san is a part of. I'm fond of it."

葉隠君がね、苗木君から余ってた【塩】を大量にもらってたんだって。何に使うのか聞いてみたんだけど、どうやら悪霊が寄ってこないように部屋に盛り塩をするみたい。葉隠君、オカルトは信じてないって言ってたんだけどなぁ……。

"Hagakure-kun received some excess salt from Naegi-kun in a large quantity. He was asked what he would use it for, and apparently he was going to place the salt at the entrance of the room so as to keep evil spirits from coming by. Hagakure-kun says he doesn't believe in the occult, but..."

【セレスさん】と色々お話してたんだけど、前に賞金がかかったインターネットの囲碁の対戦で、凄く強い人と対局して勝ったんだって！確か……「Kai」っていう名前の人だったらしいよぉ。

"Celes-san tells many sorts of stories. One time, she took part in an internet Go competition for the sake of the prize, and an astoundingly strong Go player won! But if I'm not mistaken... 'Kai' seems to be the name of that player."

"There is always one truth... That phrase is something Kirigiri-san taught me."

"I wonder what Oogami-san is doing right now?"
