Finally finished this sketch I'd had sitting around since after I saw the Galaxy movie. This was the only part of it that matters to me really.

Wow they finally put DK64 on the Switch!! It may be a game of questionable quality but it's MY beloved childhood game of questionable quality, dang it!!

Captain Flamefin was born into infamy and high expectations, following in the footsteps of her father and grandmother as a pirate captain. She also gained attention for becoming a single mother early into her captainhood. Raising a daughter aboard her galleon, the Conflagration, influenced her style of piracy, as she was known for initial overwhelming attacks upon enemy ships, but then mercy to their captains, crews and passengers. Flamefin's life was enriched, if further complicated, by taking on another young ward when her own daughter was ten years old. Although her biological daughter, Wings, broke with family tradition by having no desire to be a captain herself, Flamefin's adopted son Goldgills was eager to take up a mantle all his own. In her 50s now, Flamefin is still an active pirate, ranging in waters far from her children's current hunting grounds, happy and proud to allow them as much freedom as possible.

I'm trying to make art more fun and carefree for me again, so I will revert to drawing Pokémon, one of my favorite childhood subjects.

Recently I had the massive honor to do the thumbnail art for this video on my all-time favorite gaming character, as well as kontributing some kommentary! It's a beautiful tribute to the Donkey Kong fandom, and the positive and unitive sides of fan culture more generally. I highly recommend it if you're at all interested in K. Rool, the games he's appeared in, or if you've just always wondered why certain people gravitate to the big croc or what his whole deal is. Please check it out!!

The General of Rot and the Guard of Rot.

Despite all the spoiler warnings on this post, these two are just koncepts! Maybe in the next game ;) Since I really do hope the rot theme carries over, much like DKC's Gangplank Galleon hinted at the full pirate theme of the sequel. It's too strong of an idea to abandon that quickly.

WOW!!! A comic update!! This one also comes with me waxing poetic about video games (at least a certain video game) and promising to focus hard on my original works again. It's the best way to do honor to my inspirations.

More Kremling practice! Now you may ask, why do I need to practice with characters I've been drawing for most of my life? Well, that's exactly the point... to approach them fresh and no longer take certain things for granted. Here I wanted to get K. Lumsy a little closer to kanon while still making him my own. As well as bring in a little of the Shigehisa Nakaue art style here! But still keeping my coloring style because I have too much fun with it.

I drew this the night before Bananza came out, or the night it was being released, technically. I didn't have much time to make anything grandiose, but I'm fond of looking back on this piece because I put some secret hopes and wishes into it, and guess what??? They paid off!!!
