I tend to be very scientific, analytic and physically oriented. In other words –I’m a cynic. That being said, I’ve had some profound experiences in the last few months that have opened my mind to the world of energy work. Reiki is now entering my life in full force thanks to some amazing women in our community and I can’t thank them enough. There hasn’t been much published on the subject of energy manipulation used as a method of healing. It would be an honor to some day observe and record the effects of this practice on physical and psychological health. I hope to continue on this journey with the beautiful people in our wellness circle, welcoming others along he way. Hoping everyone had a fun, safe and fire-free 4th! . . . . . . . . It's always around this time of year that I think of our veterans and the level of care they are able to receive for the physical and mental trauma that is common among soldiers. Being from a military family and having cared for veterans in the past, it is apparent that more time needs to be spent on preventative and mental health care. The stigmas against mental health issues (that are just starting to be scientifically understood) are a huge drawback for veterans suffering from Addiction, PTSD, Depression, etc. People are less inclined to seek care if they feel unsafe doing so. AMTA has posted science-based evidence that massage can greatly reduce symptoms of various mental illnesses, aiding in recovery.
