“ Oh, it’s not a problem, really. ”
The very same polite smile never escaped her, instead lighting up her fair features further. His aura was … off, unfamiliar, human, but not and it made her head hurt a bit. Intrigued by him, icy eyes seemed to radiate curiosity with a catlike squint.
“ I can’t say I’ve seen you around before. Are you a tourist or new here? ”
He’d already made enough of a fool of himself, so shaking feeling back into his dead arm was out of the question. He could suffer through the pins and needles. He’d had worse. Way worse.
“Yeah, ‘m just passing through. I, uh, ‘m sorta into occult things.”
Ethan drowsily pressed his fingers against his brow, rubbing away the stiffness in his lids. There was something nagging at him, something quiet and just as fogged over with exhaustion’s haze as everything else. For now, just like the first pricks along his arm, he’d ignore it.
“What better place than New Orleans, right?”
