Inspired by the theories of Lacan’s Mirror Stage and the photographic gaze, the outcome of this practice research is a short collection of self-portraits where individuals were directed to photograph themselves in the absence of their facial appearances. The photographic gaze is dispersed between the intention behind this set of images, the sitter’s gaze of themselves empty of their reflection, and the viewer’s gaze. Can there be a self without self-identification, or what sort of identity would be formed without the mirror stage? How much can anyone know about themselves; does anyone truly know oneself? I looked into the mirror and I see me The image of me is the same as me Sometimes when I think of me, I think the mirror me. Other times, I think of me without the mirror me. This me seems to be a bundle of me-self, connected both to mirror me and mirror-less me.
The heartwarming feeling when first thing you see in the morning is this, after a night of snowfall. #winterwonderland #snow #winterishere
The summer of 2016 took me around this distinctive tower in the city of Tartu while I took a break from studying. This method of documentation was inspired by a photographic series titled “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji (2015-2016)” by Raoul Ries. It is absolutely worth looking at so go to https://raoulries.com/
Impending, 2017. (at Tartu, Estonia)
Group what's up chat in the garden. Au naturel human activity. (The Rhine series keeps popping up in my head while in Düsseldorf. Sadly, no million of dollars for my picture, but thanks education.) #düsseldorf #spring #whatsup #greens
Grow up. A red luxurious car define your maturity. Drives feeding your sense of responsibility. An attractive female model on your hoodie. Barricades marks the barrier of entry. Made to whet the appetites of materialistic fancy. #signs #signified #avertable #barthes #düsseldorf #visualread

11,12/08/16. Perseid meteor showers. Images from astrophotography is something that I love to look at but never really felt the urge to photograph. News about Perseid being bigger than usual this year, I took my camera, placed it on a couch and bag respectively since I currently do not have a tripod. Unfortunately, for the first night, I fell asleep quite promptly. Second night, the only photo of the meteor was captured during a test shot. The rest of the attempts didn’t managed to have the meteor in the frame or they were too fast to register. Feel kinda bummed that I’m living in a generation that will not experienced galaxy space travel as common as traveling on Boeing across continents. I blame star trek.
Intsikurmu Festival 2016 - Overall a very pleasant festival. An absence of mad drunk people, a venue that had something for families and music listeners, not crowded in the annoying kind of way, good design / layout for the venue and generally an overall good vibe! Definitely one to visit again next year if there’s a chance. Some new bands to add to the playlist and moments to the memory bank inside my relatively thick skull. Pictures from iPhone 6plus
Road trip part 3: The last part of this trip is a visit to an abandoned compound that was once used by miners and their family in the 1950-60s. That’s the end of this road trip. Next post will probably be some pictures of a pretty cool festival called “Intsikurmu” that I’ve attended yesterday.
A natural spring down the hill where people come with empty bottles to collect some of its water. The cold taste of the water is rather refreshing for a summer day.

Road trip part 2: After spending a few hours lazing around on the sandy beaches on Peipsi lake. We headed up towards a monastery and a convent, sandwiched with a visit to an old castle ruin called Vasknarva castle. The castle was first erected in 1349 by the Livonian Brothers order. Across the river lies Russia.
The final part of this road trip will take us to an abandoned village that were once used by miners during the soviet union.
Road trip part 1: Peipsi lake. A freshwater lake that separates Estonia and Russia. One of the reason why there is a abundant of small shops selling fishes is due to the catch from this lake. Beyond the horizon of this lake lies the land of Russia.
