Being a Danny Phantom fan is so funny cuz like don't get me wrong I love the show we got but damn would that show benefit so much from not being a nickelodeon show made by a dude who's scared for his show about ghosts to be about ghosts.

Like here you have this teen ghost vigilante who's parents are his biggest enemies completely unaware that they're hunting their own son.

His rouges gallery all know his secret identity and are all these ethereal species from what is essentially a purgatory dimension some of which have actual canon deaths.

He's gone up against the king of ghosts, the spectral embodiment of nature, halloween,sleep and time his future self and so much more, it deals with depression, self loathing, insecurities etc.

And then in that same show with all these concepts there isn't a single overarching story arc(aside from the occasional 2 parter), they constantly undercut serious moments with shit like exploding hot sauce packets and then the show ends with one of the lamest endings ever while the creator 20 years later tries to convince you that the ghosts in the series were never ghosts thus undermining 90% of what makes the show so interesting to begin with while simultaneously mischaracterizing damn near every character in the show.

Like and again I love Danny Phantom...it's cuz I love it that I can talk shit about it but damn was it frustrating asf being a fan before the graphic novels dropped and actually decided to take the show serious.

And this isn't me trying to say that I think Dp should be dark and edgy cuz contrary to my own au😅 i love the funny and light hearted parts of the show but idk it always felt to me like the show desperately wanted to be something that was taken seriously while the people behind it were terrified to actually take it that far.
