Shout out to all the Black ppl that can no longer participate directly in the fandom they love because of the stresses of racism 👍🏾 you contain multitudes of value and I'm sorry that the color of your skin and the power of your voice makes people not want to acknowledge that.
Messaging people for the first time is so hard. What am I supposed to say? Like, "You seem really odd and your blog intrigues me. Do you want to have philosophical conversations or perhaps talk about fictional characters?" What! Whatever. I will just follow you back and stare at your blog with my big beautiful brown eyes.
Reblog if you're okay with people coming into your DMs with the "you seem really odd and your blog intrigues me, do you want to have philosophical conversations or perhaps talk about fictional characters"
Ok am gonna throw my hat into the ring. I am seeing the chemistry discussion and I feel like some of you didn't watch the last 2 seasons because if we know anything about lovro is he is a fucking fortress.
What I mean by this is he has locked alot of his emotional availability away that am not even sure he knows how disassociated he is from himself. Throughout 2 seasons we have seen mere snaps of the real lovro and when we do see him he is uncomfortable, sad or jealous but he rarely lives in his real feelings. He sits in those feelings very momentarily and then quickly locks those feelings deeper into his internal fortress.
The night with Ivan that is real Lovro but even then he is still very guarded and apprehensive because thats just him 24/7. He is constantly recalculating what persona he should be presenting but I think thats why he was so awkward because he realized he didn't need to pretend. He was just being himself with Ivan which threw Lovro off because he rarely presents as his real version. Hence the hair symbolism there is a reason we have seen so many variations of it because its a metaphor for all the versions of himself he creates to distract others from really seeing him. He doesnt want to be seen, at least not the real him.
okay actually let's talk about lovro and how sram differentiates from skam in season 3. i feel like i'm just pointing the obvious things here and everyone is entitled to their opinion but i also feel like a lot of takes on here misunderstand what they're actually doing.
yes lovro was using a gay app in season 1. yes he knows he is gay just like isak. but season 3 trailer literally starts with him going back into the closet which sets the central theme of this season. the trailer also shows how everyone goes from faking being serious to playful as soon as the picture is taken. everyone except him because he has to continue to fake it.
seasons 1-2 lovro also had blue hair. episode 1 of season 3 starts with him dying it brown to appear more normal and be more straight passing. i saw some people take the whole “i’m dying it because i’m tired of cops stopping me for it” too literal. it was a joke and he was trying to deflect the question. you can hear it in jakov’s voice that he can tell lovro doesn’t wanna tell him the real reason but he didn’t want to push him. this is also a ~not so subtle~ version of the locker metaphor from skam.
in the first episode there is already a strong contrast in the way isak and lovro approach emma. sram established that lovro was seen as a player by his friends and that he often gets with girls only to drop them right after. in skam isak kisses emma in front of his friends. there is actually no scenes where him and emma are fully alone or not in the public space. in sram lovro is alone with ema. there is no audience to “perform for” yet he does it anyway because he is lying to himself. he is trying to convince himself. every ema interaction is literally painful because he doesn’t show any interest in her yet they added the scene in which he tries to sleep with her because he thinks that's what he needs to do. in skam emma isn't as perceptive and she can't tell something is wrong. in sram she can tell from the first episode.
adding the scene of lovro seeing vito with his boyfriend is such a specific choice because you can tell it on his face that he sees “oh this is something that is possible. but it's not possible for me”. it's such a clear indicator of the level of denial and repression he is going through right now because he literally sees someone be open and happy but he also doesn’t think that can ever be him because he would have to accept something about himself that he doesn't want to.
now let’s talk about ivan and how everything they did with him so far is on purpose. he shows up as a somewhat enigma. ivan is drawing attention to himself, he doesn’t care what people think of him. he literally wears the type of bag that’s called fa***t bag here. he is unfiltered and unapologetic about the way he is. lovro is drawn to him right away because ivan represents everything he is afraid to be right now.
the dream sequence is such a good indicator of what's going on in lovro's head. subconsciously he understand it. when he wakes up he thinks he hears the scooter and rushes to see is it him. but he doesn't really address what it means. despite being in lovro's pov we as viewers feel certain distance from him. in skam at this point isak, although he would not say it out loud, he knows there is something there and he allows himself to feel it. lovro refuses to define what he actually feels. at the same time he is slowly getting intertwined with ivan. when lovro sees him in the school the sound gets muted. when ivan enters the room lovro doesn't hear anyone or anything.
once again you can interpret those friday clips any way you want. no buzz no chemistry whatever. but i also think you're looking for buzz in the wrong place. at this point in the show this still isn't about "croevak". this is about lovro. he is trying to place these feelings without directly confronting them. like this is still a queer boy in croatia and he is scared. he is not at the same point or in the state of mind isak was and there is a different type of fear present here that wasn't there in skam. in those clips we finally see lovro light up after constantly being depressed. the buzz is there because he is the one who experiences it when he looks at ivan and we are experiencining that "click" with him.
there is actually so much blink and you'll miss it body language acting in that last clip. ivan who keeps getting closer and lovro who keeps backing away. ivan who touches him and lovro who smiles but immediately drops it as if he wasn't allowed to feel that way. there doesn't need to be music. there doesn't need to be montage. there doesn't need to be camera movement that tells you what to focus on. i said it in my tags but lovro is absolutely endorsed with ivan but right now it just feels like something he can't have.
you can't keep comparing their buzz to og or even other remakes without taking into account that lovro is currently not only in a totally different place and mindset than any of his counterparts but that there is also a certain complexity which comes from being queer in a country like croatia that actually frames all these scenes in a totally different light and adds certain heaviness to them.
the concept of lovro having his natural hair for most of season 3 and then cro!even helping him dye it later on as an allegory for him repressing himself and his sexuality at the beginning of the season vs him accepting his identity and becoming his true self at the end
my only palpable prediction for s3 is that we’ll get a glimpse of what lovro’s family situation looks like. or maybe even more than a glimpse - their apartment is an established location in s1, and given how abruptly the interior of their home was seen in eva’s pov, revisiting it through lovro’s experience would more instinctively align us with his rumination on this space that he must share with his mother as well. we could also be exposed to the exact moment when he decides to flee or leave, whether it’s forced on him through, say, his mother’s hospitalisation or it’s a choice he makes to escape the situation. or they could completely scrap the kollektiv storyline and do something different entirely, the possibilities are (almost) endless! and while sram relatively isn’t as dramatised as other remakes, i think they’ll try to dwell on family horror aspect on a more attentive and exhaustive level….and im expecting that we’ll meet his mother, how her looming presence will somewhat verbalise the role and power catholic church holds in today’s croatia as a whole
Thank you so much to Ivan, Bruno, Jelena and Maja for all the campaigning and hard work, then went into getting season 3 of SRAM green-lit. I’m entirely grateful to you all for the gift that you have given in SRAM. Thank you, universe, for listening to the prayers and manifestations of the SRAM community. A huge thank you to @paralleluniversesfan for reading all of my SRAM season 2 thoughts and never once complaining about my thesis-length analysis about my-noot details. You truly have the patience of a saint, and I’m so thankful for the conversations we had about season 2 it means more than I can put in words . Also, a much-deserved thank you to @curvedsphere , @eliottd3maury , @chuckadoody and Sherry for the support and kindness they have all shown me whilst I obsess and go completely feral over SRAM. Y’all are such incredible people and have created such a beautiful community, that I’m eternally grateful to be a part of it. Thank you to all the amazing people on Twitter (yes, I still call it Twitter, I’m very a boomer), Reddit and TikTok for the SRAM content they create and updates during this chaotic time. Finally, thank you to SRAM for giving me the opportunity to go back into the Skam universe and be apart of a community full of love 💙
Two very different moments in time and two very different conversations. I just think it’s interesting though how the mention of Roko is used to introduce much needed significant conversations that both have such a deep impact.
Četvrtak 13:23pm aka hell week is starting to slowly turn into the start of healing.
Oh my goodness, I was so worried about what this scene would entail. The bravery of Noora to go to the doctor and have a blood test. It reminds me of how in the OG Vilde tells Noora that she should have gotten tested, as though Noora should automatically think logically and know to get tested when she's barely even been able to begin to process the trauma. I imagine in this version that last night when Noora was looking online at the drug that her drink was likely spiked with, it would have said that having a blood test would confirm the presence of the drug. I can also understand Noora going by herself, given that for most of her life, she has had to be self-sufficient. The use of blue and the spotlight echoed Noora's isolation on Monday. Noora then cries in the bathroom whilst looking at herself in the mirror; it feels as though she has pieces of what happened but does not have the full picture whilst simultaneously having to acknowledge to herself that she was assaulted.
The ending gives me hope though because I think it's the first time in this episode I think someone has actually asked Noora if she is okay, as though for the first time in this episode, she sees what we the audience have seen all week that Noora is struggling. I hope this means Noora realises that she doesn't need to go through this alone and has people who will support her.
Noora taking off the plaster at the end feels as though it's signalling that as much as it hurts, she's ready to tell someone and say aloud for the first time what happened to her. I guess that she will tell Eva first and that they'll either be walking or sitting on a window sill. The ending of Noora saying that she is fine even though she isn't makes me wonder if there is some part of her that knows that she will be okay and will get through this 🩵
I hope anyone who has read this and has experienced sexual assault knows that what happened to them is not their fault and they do not have to go through this alone. Please reach out to someone, be it family, friends, doctors, or a helpline. Even if you’re not sure what happened or feel that it was nothing, you deserve to be supported, so please, if you take anything away from SRAM S2, it’s that you deserve support, so please reach out to someone. 💜
