This sermon is called the al-Gharra’ and it is one of the most wonderful sermons of Amir al-mu’minin.

Praise be to Allah who is High above all else, and is Near (the creation) through His bounty. He is the Giver of all reward and distinction, and Dispeller of all calamities and hardships. I praise Him for His continuous mercy and His copious bounties.

I believe in Him as He is the First of all and He is Manifest. I seek guidance from Him as He is Near and is the Guide. I seek His succour as He is Mighty and Subduer. I depend upon Him as He is Sufficer and Supporter. And I stand witness that Muhammad (blessing of Allah be on him and his progeny) is His slave and His Prophet. He sent him for enforcement of His commands, for exhausting His pleas and for presenting warnings (against eternal punishment).

O creatures of Allah I advise you to have fear of Allah Who has furnished illustrations and Who has timed for you your lives. He has given you covering of dress1 and He has scattered for you livelihood. He has surrounded you with His knowledge. He has ordained rewards. He has bestowed upon you vast bounties and extensive gifts. He has warned you through far reaching arguments, and He has counted you by numbers. He has fixed for you ages (to live) in this place of test and house of instruction.

You are on test in this world and have to render account about it.

Certainly this world is a dirty watering place and a muddy source of drinking.

Its appearance is attractive and its inside is destructive. It is a deception, a vanishing reflection and a bent pillar. When its despiser begins to like it and he who is not acquainted with it feels satisfied with it, then it raises and puts down its feet (in joy), entraps him in its trap, makes him the target of its arrows and puts round his neck the rope of death taking him to the narrow grave and fearful abode in order to show him his place of stay and the recompense of his acts. This goes on from generation to generation. Neither death stops from cutting them asunder nor do the survivors keep aloof from committing of sins

as-Sayyid ar-Radi says: It is related that when Amir al-mu’minin delivered this sermon people began to tremble, tears flowed from their eyes and their hearts were frightened. Some people call this sermon the Brilliant Sermon (al-Khutbatu’l-Gharra’)

Martyrdom of Imam Ali ( ع) 🥀 - Soon Ibn Moljam was brought before Ali (AS), His state was terrible, Ali (AS) could see. His bonds were cutting deep in his skin, Causing the blood to spurt from within. A frown creased Ali’s brow, He ordered the bonds be loosened NOW. The murderer into tears broke, Ali (AS) smiled faintly and then he spoke. “It is not too late to repent O Ibn Moljam, Was I am unjust or cruel Imam?” Then to his sons, Ali (AS) said, “Give him a drink to relieve his head.” But Ibn Moljam didn’t trust Ali, He refused the drink quietly. Ali (AS) then spoke, “O Ibn Moljam, Why do you not trust your dying Imam? If you had taken this juice of mine, You’d be with me in Heaven divine.” In two more days Ali (AS) died.. -

Heart wrenching atmosphere at the shrine of Amirul Momineen Imam Ali-ibne-Abu-Talib () on the 19th of Ramadan.

اللهم العن قتلة أمير المؤمنين 💔

Among the signs that show the person that he saw (witnessed) the Night of Qadr are:

1. To see a great, clear light during the night other than the light of the sun, the moon, or electricity;

2. To see the trees prostrating;

3. To hear the voices of angels;

4. To see the angels in their original form with two (2), three (3), four (4) or more wings, or to see them in the shape of a human being, i.e. the shape of a man (however, without genitalia).

Also, the way the sun rises the next morning is an indication that the previous night was the Night of Qadr. When the sun is rising its light and heat are not intense.

The Holy Prophet (ص) told him once:

“The nation will betray you after me. You shall live according to my precept. Whoever loves you loves me and whoever hates you hates me and this (pointing to the beard of the Imam) shall be reddened from this (pointing to the head of the Imam Ali (ع) ).”

To think that it was this same sun that rose over the same mosque, under whose dome was the bleeding head of Imam Ali (as) in the position of sujud. They couldn’t attack him on the battlefield, so they attacked him when he was in his most vulnerable and defenseless state. But all they confirmed was their own cowardice, in the face of the man whose first reaction to being so unexpectedly struck in the middle of his prayer, was to exclaim that he had succeeded in his mission in God’s way.
