The raunchy ladies at The Newmarket Hotel, reminding us of what was there before the 6 Degrees architects worked their magic on that space. Go for the cocktails in pitchers and super fresh cal-mex deliciousness, especially the soft taco with wood roasted bone marrow, chimichurri and ranchero style brisket. Yes, bone marrow in a taco.
90 minutes in Singapore? Walk as fast as you can to the 24 hour food court, on the mezzanine and order a Laksa. Within moments you're handed a big bowl of poached chicken, tofu puffs and noodles swimming in fabulously spicy, coconut gravy. Just what you need to survive the next flight.
Check out @MoVidaMelbourne looking supercute at the airport.
The Little Ox brings some much needed Melbourne cafe cuteness to Brighton.
There's always been a bit of a North/South divide mentality in Melbourne, whichever side of the Yarra you live on has a way of defining who you are. It appears in the 4+ years I've lived in London this divide has widened and whether you are north or south-side has never been more important. Back in 2003 when Melbourne was swept up in a 'where is the best pizza in town' moment, it really didn't matter which 'side' you lived on, you'd travel anywhere, and in the case of the original Ladro in Fitzroy (North) you'd have to book weeks in advance. Last year Prahran (South) got its very own Ladro. Much bigger than the original, but keeping the same feel, focus on the best ingredients cooked simply, and obviously the same amazing pizza. Tonight however I had pasta, tagliatelle puttanesca, sweet cherry tomatoes and basil, sharp capers, salty olives all stirred through perfectly al dente tagliatelle. Worth crossing the river for. Not that I have to anymore.
DIY crispy duck buns @Golden_Fields. Twice-cooked crispy duck leg, steamed Chinese buns, cucumber batons, vinegar & hoisin sauce.

Melbourne, you were very beautiful today. This is the best autumn weather ever.
I've totally loved my night @circatheprince. It's newly owned, renovated (again) and its more easily enjoyed than ever before. It's all down to the cleverness of the menu - want something 'hot, cold & spicy w. aromatic wines'? Sure, just pick the dish then flick open the wine list & go for an 'aromatic red' or white. Easy. Delicious. And seriously well priced. For pudding we followed the advice of our waiter - Passionfruit, orange & chocolate souffle. Super light souffle studded with chocolate chips, served with Passionfruit sauce & orange blossom ice cream. Yep, it was as good as it sounds.
It's official, I'm one of those Melbourne hipster girls - I've bought an Emily Green necklace.
