Plates from Dekorative Vorbilder
The Dekorative Vorbilder, was a decorative arts periodical published by Julius Hoffman in Stuttgart, Germany from 1890 until the late 1920s. The series featured work from a variety of artists, and it was described by the press as âa compilation of figurative representations, applied-art embellishments, plastic ornaments, decorative animal and plant studies, allegories, trophies, heraldic motifs, club insignias, coats of arms for guilds, festive ornaments, etc.â Other titles by Julius Hoffman include Der Moderne Stil, or âThe Modern Styleâ a periodical printed from 1899-1905, and Die Kupferstiche des Meisters, âThe Engravings of the Mastersâ published in 1911.
The Dekorative Vorbilder was issued in monthly installments. The images we are featuring this week are from Volume 19, printed in 1908.Â

Burnout, 2018.
Three years ago, my constantly worsening sleep deprivation and stress resulted in a burnout. Iâm 30 years old now, at the time of posting this comic, and I still havenât recovered fully. I still have the heart symptoms - even the smallest amount of stress brings the symptoms back. Itâs likely I will never recover enough to work a fulltime job again and I canât go back to high-stress environments like customer service. But thatâs alright. I am more than just my work. Iâm slowly learning to be merciful towards myself and to show myself the same kindness I show others, and I think thatâs very important.
This is my story and I wonât be ashamed any more.
I needed this. Especially the percentage part. As someone who compares myself to others a lot, I really needed that.
Your best is yours, not anyone elseâs
Just to emphasize
Youâre doing amazing, all of you guys are. I believe in you all, and Iâm proud.Â
Keep going, you got this

Here is another one of my reconstructions of a traditional and easy to make Yule decoration that was very popular in the Third Reich â the so called Weihnachtspyramide (Christmas pyramid)/ Paradeisl/ Lufleuchter.Â
All Christmas pyramids looked basically similar and had pretty much the same meaning as the famous clay Julleuchter that was given as a Christmas gift to members of the SS. The shape of the pyramid likely meant to symbolize the World Mountain that is illuminated by lights or the World Tree.
