To the 19+ porn blog that follow me and whatever followers I may have:

I’m taking a semi-break from Tumblr and other forms of social media (except for Youtube). Not sure if I’m 100% quitting the site yet but I will be on it infrequently and only to check up on a few tags and fan-artists that I like. 

There are multiple reasons for this: problems with the site, changes in the community, today’s turbulent climate, the fact that I’m probably too old to still be on sites like this tbh and the main reason, productivity. I want to invest my time better and work towards doing the things I want to do. And I can’t do that if I’m wasting my time on social media.

Headcanons aren't even that interesting anymore. People used to take context clues from the show to fill in the blanks with the characters history or personality or just make cute little guesses about characters likes and dislikes. Now all it is is just "this character is gay/trans/ace/neurodivergent cuz I say so and if you disagree with me you're wrong". And that's just not as interesting tbh.

2012 Tumblr fandoms: *gorgeous fan-art, interesting gif sets, funny screencaps, memes, clever jokes, weird but interesting crossovers, tons of ships het and gay, very little discourse about shipping and headcanons (for the most part), theories, headcanons, people knowing the difference between canon and head canon, hype for the actual PLOT OF THE SHOW, pictures and gifs of the actors being cute, silly role play accounts being cute, cute closet cosplays, cute cosplays people put a lot work into, people actually analyzing their favorite characters instead of just fetishisizing them and talking about how gay they are, dumb jokes videos sorta like amv hell or ytp, fun*

2016 Tumblr fandoms: *lol this show is so gay, shitty discourse about queer/ace/neurodivergent/trans headcanons, same few gif sets of the same few scenes, some sjw bullshit, more gay, more shitty discourse, suffering and no fun allowed*

honestly i have been so depressed, drained, and soul crushed over the past month than I have in a long long time. 

I have never felt more miserable and out of energy than I have now. With the trump presidency, my general work schedule, and the very toxic and intense environment of all the social media I’m on.

I feel as though a break might be the best option but these sites are so ingrained in my living (as sad as that sounds) That I dont know how to fill my little free time otherwise.

Taking a break is actually a lot easier than it sounds. I took a year and a half break from Tumblr before I rejoined a few months ago. I just trolled other social medias sites, watched and read more shit and worked on my writing. I might take a break again from all social media except for YouTube to do the same. Social media is fun but you'll be surprised to find how unnecessary it truly is once you quit it.
