Victor F. de M. Torres is an interdisciplinary, multimedia, performance artist born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil currently living and working in New York, NY. He has an MFA in Intermedia and Digital Arts from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Victor has a BA in Socio-cultural Anthropology with a concentration in Economic Anthropology and Ontological Security. His work is concerned with the construction of 'common sense,' focusing primarily on the derivation, creation, and dissemination of meaning. Through the development of mythologies, Torres, attempts to reveal cultural factors that are otherwise veiled with the purpose of exploring the mechanisms that shape self-environment relationships. Victor's work has been show at the EMP Collective, Area 405, MIX NYC, La Mama Galleria, Dixon Place. Torres is a founding and participating member of multiple Baltimore arts organizations such as Glitter Thighs and Socially Engaged Arts Kollective, (SEAK).
