Honestly be pretentious as fuck about the stuff you create. Do a press release for your fanfic updates. Do a Q&A about your webcomic. Make fake merch designs for your OCs. Commission "official" book covers. Very few of us will ever get to a stage where something we've created Makes It Big but even if you have an audience of 5 people plus a shoelace fucking indulge yourself and pretend!! It's the only way to live!!
me constantly releasing press junkets about my OCs like they are actual celebrities and i am their PR agent
@starstruckodysseys
Some idiot: "Why are you reading your own fic, that's shallow and stupid"
All fanfic writers and writers everywhere: "Who the fuck do you think I wrote it for?!"
i just saw a post on reddit titled "the writer is cooking but the food doesn't agree with me" and it was about OP clicking off a fic because they don't like the direction it's going in. slightly different context but can we all be more like this reddit OP. i think "the writer is cooking but the food doesn't agree with me" should be the new "don't like don't read." dead doves may give you diarrhea but don't make that everyone else's problem.
Hardest part of writing is accepting that some people will not fucking get it & you just have to like cope with that because over-explaining it just makes it worse
I will not over-explain my art to the stupidest people on earth. I'm writing for people who know what I'm talking about. Mantra that will save you. David Lynch was right
these tags are perfect and I think everyone should see them
thinking about how the world would be better if more people understood the differences between 'the author failed to tell the story they wanted to tell' and 'the author told the story they wanted to tell, but they told it badly' and 'the author told the story they wanted to, and they told it well, but it wasn't the story I wanted to read'
writing is so fun
writing is impossible why does anyone do this

you left a pretty rude comment on one of my fics. completely unnecessary and uncalled for. fanfic is for fun and you would think, that within the queer community, as well as creative spaces, we should support each other and lift each other up. but you took the time to be negative and be mean with zero intent to make me feel good about something i worked very hard on and came from my heart.
as someone with immense depression and other mental health issues and living in an abusive house hold, that hurt. you should really think before you speak before dragging someone you don’t even know down into the dirt. if you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing at all. you don’t know what someone is going through and why we do what we do for. for free. as a hobby. to help us escape form our reality for a bit.
maybe you’ll delete this message bc you can’t have people know you are incredibly mean. maybe you’ll post it or come after me in dms. i don’t care. but you need to work on yourself. the world is sad enough as it is.
Before anybody actually thinks I would have done something like this, there was a follow-up message:
First of all, even though I didn't leave that comment, I am still sorry that you received it anyway. That's never been who I am about and it never will be. I am thankful that you have friends looking out for you, and in a way me as well, because if it hadn't been for them telling you about the spam bot, you would have gone on thinking that I did that to you and that honestly breaks my heart just thinking that.
So please, there are no apologies necessary. You came directly to me and I respect that more than anything. I really hope this spam bot problem will be fixed and I wish you happy writing for all your stories ❤️❤️❤️

I'm saying in the beginning was the word and it was good, it meant one human entering another and it's still what I love, the word made flesh.
