“Admiring your kingdom?” Hadea turned towards her husband. She wore her hair down and had chosen a simple white robe while standing barefoot on her balcony, overlooking the Netherworld in all it’s new golden glory. Rebuild twice, the kingdom was now stronger than ever. And this time, nobody would take it away from her. From them. “It’s our kingdom,” she softly corrected him. “It’s ours now.” “Of course it is,” he nodded, gently putting an arm around her. “It still feels surreal, standing here with you, as the Queen and the King of the Netherworld. I never thought this would be my destiny. I never saw myself becoming anyone other than the Phantom.” “No regrets, right?” she wanted to know. She didn’t sense any regrets. He seemed happy. But she liked hearing him actually say it out loud. “None,” he assured her. “Ever since I first met you…” “Ah.” She smiled. “Admit it. You’ve always sort of liked me.” “Honestly…” Looking back, he realized he had been so worried about Jedda that he hadn’t given the beautiful queen in front of him much thought. However, after Jedda had been revived, even though they had still been prisoners in the Netherworld, he had felt… something. Her beauty had not gone unnoticed by him, of course. But there had been something else. A connection, maybe. Both of them being lonely and seemingly unable to escape their destiny. “I was intrigued by you,” he finally admitted. “Well, you were hiding that pretty well,” she replied with a smile. “Not hiding it now,” he told her. “I see…” Walking towards him, she took his hands in his. “How about we relocate this conversation into a more… private setting?” “Just what I was going to suggest,” he said with a smile. Inside they went, leaving open the balcony door behind them, the white curtains softly blowing in the wind.
Love those two!
