Awwwww, thank you! I missed this yesterday due to my struggles with Irma and having no power on my birthday, but I appreciated seeing this just now that I’ve followed my husband to work to obtain electricity. Thanks again, everyone, this was quite lovely to find. :)

So I hit a follower milestone today… 

200 followers– and in the scheme of things, I realize that isn’t a lot, but honestly it means something to me. I mean, 200 people (that I’ve never met) chose to follow my disorganized mess of a blog! You read my fanfics, reblog my edits and flail with me over fictional characters and shared interests. That’s pretty cool and is why fandom is so awesome!

The Fitzsimmons Network would like to present the hiatus event of the ages…

                   ~*~ENGINEERING VS. BIOCHEM~*~

What is this?

Engineering vs. Biochem is a unique umbrella event for all the activities that will be happening at @thefitzsimmonsnetwork​ over the hiatus, as well as a way to promote the creation of fanworks. All participants will:

be split into 2 teams: engineering or biochem

earn points for every Fitzsimmons fanwork they create based on a scaled point system

have the opportunity to earn points for participating in TFSN events (many of which will not necessitate creating fanworks)

get to be part of the fun and awesome FS community and make new friends!

Important Information:

Sign ups begin NOW until June 24th, midnight PST

The team rosters will be announced on June 28th

Before beginning, you will first vote for your team leaders, which will end on July 5th

Giving us a few days to confer with the team leaders about how the event will run… EvB will officially begin on July 10th! You will receive the official point system, links to your team spreadsheets, team chats, etc. on this day

This event will officially end a month or so before hiatus ends: winning team and top point earners will be announced before the show comes back and for both teams will receive gifts from the network

There will be other events hosted by TFSN during the hiatus, like exchanges, challenges, etc.—most will NOT be exclusive to this event, but you will earn extra points for participating

We will host Engineering vs. Biochem exclusive events like contests, chats and vote offs to earn points for non-fanworks

Hi ~ 265 from the prompt list with rebelcaptain?

Hi dear! Thank you so much for sending me a prompt. I decided to go a little silly with this one (instead of the few angsty ideas that came to mind). I hope you like it. Went with a modern flair ;) A big thank you to @amanda-rex for beta-ing it to give me the courage to post these drabbles!

Prompt 265: I promise, it’s just this once.

Jyn wailed in frustration, slamming the controller down on the couch and disentangling herself from the wires wrapped around her legs.

“I can’t take it!” she growled. “Our floor is literally thumping.”

Her roommate, Bodhi, laughed at her. “I can’t tell if this is one of your better excuses for losing to me, again, or one of the worse ones?” He set the controller down himself and nudged her playfully. “I guess this is better than “ow I’m having a leg cramp’!”

Under normal circumstances, Jyn wouldn’t have ignored his snickers and would have reminded him of all of his excuses. And that leg cramps really did fucking hurt. But, the situation in the apartment below her was all she could think about. She didn’t know what bothered her more, the incessant pulsing of the music below her, or the oh-so smooth voice of her downstairs neighbor, Cassian Andor, echoing in her head. She remembered accosting him the last time, his eyes warm and his voice kind as he soothed her: “I promise, it’s just this once.” Apparently, they had differing definitions of once, because this was the third time this month that he had thrown a loud party that would have been shaking their glass cabinets, if they had any.

To be fair, Cassian had no obligation to keep his promises to her. He was just her neighbor, after all. They weren’t friends, or anything even close to that. Even if he’d stepped in to defend her that night she stepped in to knock out the asshole that had followed in the girl from 3B. Or if he’d helped her to her apartment that one night she came home and had passed out in the lobby. Or if they always happened to do laundry at exactly the same time. It was all just coincidence. It shouldn’t feel this way when he didn’t follow through on his promises.

A movement by her side brought her back to reality. To anger. Bodhi had placed his feet on the boxes and wooden slab that served as their coffee table, now focused on the book he’d set aside earlier to play with her. She ground her teeth at how unfazed he seemed, both by the noise and by her agitation.

“It’s really not that bad,” he told her, not looking up.

That was it. She was going to deal with this music, even if Bodhi wasn’t.

“You shouldn’t-Hey! Wait! Jyn!”

But she was already striding with purpose down the hall and out the door. She slammed her fist on Cassian’s door, hard, though she wasn’t sure the thuds would be heard over the rhythmic vibrations of the ever-so-loud music.

The door opened and she was suddenly face to face with Cassian’s very well-sculpted features. Her mouth went dry as her anger slammed against her tongue, as if it had hit a dam. She sputtered, struggling to find the words to express her frustration.

Hello Fitzsimmons shippers!

Welcome to one of the main umbrella events we will be hosting as part of our hiatus activities: 

                       ~*~FITZSIMMONS FLASHBACK~*~

This event will focus on exploring Fitzsimmons in Seasons 1-3. As Season 4 has been the latest season, there has been a lot of focus on it (which will continue in our other activities!). So, we wanted there to be a special event dedicated to some of our favorite FS moments of the past.

There are two parts to this event, so be sure to read carefully!

I. Work submissions/Queue

*If you are member of TFSN*, you can now SUBMIT old works you created in the past to be reblogged by the network during the course of the hiatus.

It can be anything related to S1-S3 Fitzsimmons, so long as you created it. It doesn’t matter if we’ve already reblogged it or not, whether you were a member when you made it—it’s just about going back and revisiting works you might be proud of, works you wanted to bring attention to again, etc. (It doesn’t need to have been created at that time, so long as those moments are the focus.)

It can be AUs and similar works, as long as they are exploring FS’ dynamic at the time!

Please limit your submissions to 10 works a week.

In addition to your submissions, TFSN will be looking back and reblogging older fandom content as well, so we can all revisit some of the wonderful FS works we’ve had over the years

*New works you create related to S1-3 Fitzsimmons moments will simply be reblogged as part of the regular TFSN queue, so don’t worry about them!

II. Challenges and Events

Throughout the hiatus, we will be putting out various challenges and events related to past Fitzsimmons moments/episodes. Examples of things to look forward to include (but are not limited to):

asking you to fill up missing moments in an episode or between them

revisiting old headcanons or theories you had

exploring what happened during season time jumps

resolving old arcs that you may have felt weren’t addressed

creating AUs related to S1/2/3 Fitzsimmons dynamics

community rewatches of favorite episodes

polls to determine favorite moments (along with activities related to the determined favorite moments)

taking the show in a different direction at different canon points

…and many more! All of this is geared towards giving you the chance to revisit things you love(d) about FS, that simply might not be getting as much attention as canon has moved on.

This part of the event is open to everyone!

Once EvB begins (if you are participating), you will be getting points for these events!

We will be reblogging all of this material with the tag #fitzsimmons flashback, in case you’re not interested in seeing older works! We’ll also tag all replies to questions/new activities for this event with this tag as well, so you can easily find everything.

Hello TFSN members!

Good news! New members will be posted this weekend…along with some new updates for all of you! We will be unveiling a new revamped version of the member’s page (and list)! We have been working on this for awhile, so we are very excited to release it.

For the new member’s page, we’ve gone through all member blogs in order to be able to streamline the member’s page. 

What does this mean? Members who haven’t been active in over a year (meaning no AoS/FS content has been reblogged within the last year) will be removed from the page, along with anyone who hasn’t followed the rules of admission listed in our sidebar. Obviously, we are keeping everyone’s information, so should you come back after a long hiatus or need to fill out the form, you can do so and quickly be added. (Don’t worry, this doesn’t affect people who haven’t submitted an icon—you will just be given the default one we use. But if you haven’t submitted information at all, we can’t put you on the page!)  All members will be listed in alphabetical order, so if you change URLs after the update, please let us know. 

We made these changes in the hope that they will allow the member’s page to be a truly useful function for finding active FS blogs and be a better promotional tool for all of you! 

Given this update, if you’d like to make any changes to your icon/information, please SUBMIT it to us before the weekend so that it can be included! 

ALSO! Now that Tumblr allows chat blogs to be added by URL (it was only by email before and we were missing a lot of emails), we will be adding all of our active members to our chat blog and making sure that remains an active place for you all. (Active members means reblogged content within the last year/following rules of admission, but you don’t need to have submitted information for the member’s page).

All of this will come with more “members-only” perks that we’ll be releasing information about soon to help foster more friendship and interaction for you awesome peeps. 

(Don’t worry if you’re not interested in membership—this will not affect our open activities or EvB! The vast majority of our activities, challenges, events and exchanges will still remain open for everyone to participate in.)

Hello Fitzsimmons Fanfiction Fans!

It’s totally not Friday, but we hope you’ll forgive us because we come to you with theme for the month of April! By voting last week, you selected… 

                                      ~*~FOR SCIENCE~*~

…as your theme for the month! This will be the focus for recommendations, fic prompts, and “flash events” for the month. 

How this month will work:

Over the course of the month, we’d like you to submit your favorite fanfiction that focuses on Fitzsimmons’ scientific achievements, love for science, etc.—anything that fits the theme: “for science”

please send in your recommendation with the name of the fic and author (tumblr username, if possible!)

if possible, please link the fic you are recommending!

Every Friday, we will have a different special event related to this theme, so please look out for your special event coming next Friday!

In the meantime, please send in your recommendations! We’ll be using them to compile a “Best ‘For Science’” fic-rec list! 

We hope you enjoy this event! We’re really excited to launch it and see what kinds of fics and ideas you will all come up with.

I get that a lot of people really like the “we need to consider the consequences of science” theme in fiction, and I do as well. 

However, I get very uncomfortable that innovation that can be twisted into something evil, must necessarily and inherently be evil. 

Fitz did not create The Framework. He created a Virtual Reality training exercise, in order to help train new agents without anyone getting hurt. (Which, as far as I recall, was an approved and sanctioned SHIELD project that Jemma knew about and liked.) And we currently have Virtual Reality technology that exists in our world, and as I understand people are using it for all kinds of really good things:

helping terminal patients get to do things on their bucket list

help people terrified of flying disconnect from the world 

create beautiful fictional worlds for people to immerse themselves in as a way to enjoy their time (just a step above 3D movies??)

possibly teaching first responders how to deal with really traumatic situations

And those are just current applications that people are trying to improve and develop. There are TONS more applications that involve HELPING and improving people’s lives. Because you can potentially create an evil Matrix with virtual reality doesn’t mean the technology is inherently evil. 

If I recall correctly, Fitz’ job in SHIELD is to keep creating things that protect SHIELD agents and improve the way that SHIELD runs. Nobody complains about the containment module he created to help protect Inhumans? Or any of the other countless things he’s invented to help SHIELD? (Even though I’m certain if someone thought hard enough, they would be able to find an evil version of all of those.) The reason Radcliffe was able to build AIDA is because Fitz developed a realistic prosthetic hand for Coulson to improve his life. Should he not have done that? 

Yes, of course, it’s important to consider the consequences of the technology you create. But blaming a character for having someone else completely make a new, evil version of their technology with a mystical evil book that didn’t exist when the character made that technology is a bit far-fetched.

Jemma’s To Do List (E) Now complete!

Overachiever Jemma Simmons is not used to failure. When she can’t retain the attention of dreamy college boy Milton Waters, she blames it on her lack of sexual experience and resolves to learn everything there is to know about sex by the end of summer, before she leaves for college. She can count on her friends Daisy and Bobbi for moral support, and on her mean girl step-sister Raina for reluctant guidance. As for experimenting –surely her good friend and lab partner Fitz would be willing to help?

Chapter 7 is up. Excerpt:

After rolling up the legs of their pants, they sat down hip to hip at the edge of pool, soaking their calves and kicking a soft tide ahead of them. Once he’d heard her pledge that nothing had or would ever happen with Milton, the air around them seemed charged with electricity. There was a feverish excitement to the silence stretching between them, as they teetered toward a change that felt both terrifying and exhilarating— a change that felt inevitable.

“When did you know?” Jemma asked cautiously, wiggling her toes in the water. “When did you start thinking about me this way?”

“There wasn’t just one big moment of revelation,” Fitz replied evasively with an exaggerated one-shoulder shrug. “I guess things started getting a little muddled when I first realized you’d grown boobs.”

“Typical,” she smirked, splashing his leg lightly.
