I’ve learned how to photograph pro football! Check out the full photo gallery here.
At the opening of the National Museum for African American History and Culture, the struggle still continues. In the middle photo, the man was raising his fist during the National Anthem.

My aunt Rosana got married this weekend! Here’s my first shot at casual wedding photography - I was just a guest since there weren’t bridesmaids, but my mom did an amazing job with the flowers, I got to introduce my boyfriend to the family and it was a happy occasion.

Also, lowkey, this woman was my hero.

DC Pride photographed for DC Refined
Pride isn’t just about parades and rainbow flags and the fight didn’t end with marriage equality. People who are LGBTQ are far more susceptible to violence, discrimination, homelessness and mental health issues, largely due to the lack of social acceptance, visibility and resources.
DC Pride was fun, but it was still a day of protest and solidarity against hate.
Some life updates
I quit my job working as a crime and politics reporter! On Tuesday I will start my photojournalism job for a digital lifestyle magazine that’s launching with DC’s local ABC News station.
I will be guiding their visual direction and primarily working in still images, although I’ll also be working in video as well. This is, without a question, the opportunity of a lifetime and an excellent way to start my career and time in D.C.
I got the position because I turned to a man editing photos next to me at a coffee shop and I asked him where he recommended freelancing in DC and he asked me if I was looking for a job. I was offered the position exactly once month after I moved in and I’m so grateful to everyone who supported and hired me over the years.
Odds are I will be in D.C. for some time. It’s an adventure.

I fell in love with New Orleans.
This was part of a home/gas station combo that was abandoned near Giddings, Texas. The neighbor, who came to check that I wasn’t stranded, told me it was abandoned sometime in the 60s.
