"I say "I'm okay" the way I say the sky is blue.
It is never just blue. It's raging, it's unstable, and at times, it cries enough to flood cities."
- S. Renea

There is something about Zombieland that transcends every other zombie movie/show I have ever witnessed. Sure, the movie has blood, guts, and gore, the savage destruction of innocent property, “fucked up little monsters” of 7 year old girls in princess dresses, and Woody Harrelson wiping away tears with hundred dollar bills over a monopoly board after most of a movies worth of big dick moments, but each of the characters goes on their own little journey to become the kind of person that they want to be. The goal isn’t to become better, because in Z-Land, there is practically no one to become better for. From Little Rock’s 12 years, to however old Tallahassee is supposed to be, everyone has a little growing up to do, and growing up is something that you just can’t do alone.

In Shakespeare's tragedy, Othello, Othello's wife's dying words are an act of love for her husband who had just murdered her. I find this far more tragic than Othello's suicide. Right from the beginning of the play, Desdemona had been set up for this moment, and right until the very end she remained loyal and loving. I wonder if I'll ever love someone so truly. I wonder if I can.

I close my eyes and feel myself fly a thousand miles away. I could take flight, but would it be right? My conscience tells me stay.... Duty means doing the thing your heart may well regret.

Time Once Past (Favorite Colors)
I remember in elementary school, everyone always wanted to know what everyone’s favorite color was. Almost everyone in my classes liked either blue or green. Now I know that blue and green are the colors we see in the world the most. Blue is the color of the sky and the sea and green is the color of the land and nature. These colors are naturally good to us, as humans, because the sea, the sky, and the land support human life. If anyone picked a different color, it was purple, for K-State (all the KU legacies picked blue). I was always weird because my favorite color was red. I remember liking red because it was the color of a persons lips and from the mouth is where you could tell who a person really was. From their words, you could see what a person was on the inside and it was kind of like seeing their blood, which was also red (I was a strange 8 year old). Now, when we pick favorite colors, we tend to go for either our school colors, or the color that we feel we look best dressed in. Now my favorite colors are burgundy and teal because I look good in those colors of clothing. My point is, when did we stop asking people what their favorite colors are? And when did we become so shallow about it?

The Princess and the Pauper
I’ve been thinking about windows and how I always seem to feel trapped behind one. I can wave all I want, but who ever looks through windows from the outside? I know I don’t. What if I see something private? What if I see something unforgivable? What if I see someone desperate to be seen? That’s why I wonder if anyone will ever see me.
