I am starting this blog to motivate myself and find other people on the same journey as me. I am just all over the place these days, trying to learn so many things at the same time, which makes me feel overwhelmed. In this blog, I will be breaking down all the things I wanna achieve and taking you along with me while still maintaining my mental health and my hobbies.

unfriendly and honestly hostile reminder that trump isn't invading venezuela because maduro is a dictator, or because of drug cartels. he's doing it only and exclusively because they have desirable oil reserves and no other reason. reminder that venezuela is a comparatively poor country that will never financially recover from this. reminder that venezuelans are suffering with the bombing and the air strikes. reminder that trump did it to steal from them and no one did anything. reminder that this sets a dangerous precedent and now all trump has to do to invade another country is claim they're in a dictatorship. reminder that trump is a fascist dictator.

this will only be bad, for venezuelans and for all of latin america (and possibly the whole world) in the long run. trump did this not to help the venezuelans or their country, but to steal their petrol and get away with it. and he will. because that's what dictators do.

This is a good reminder that there is a lot of texture and complexity to people; every human contains lots of aspects that would be completely unrelated if not for the fact that the same person experiences them. It’s easy to forget this, and compress the people you meet into a caricature; even celebrities usually end up being famous for one thing alone. But even something as glorious as the first space travel by a living human does not fully encompass a life.

love all the reading I've been doing lately. it is also exciting to see my library build up over the years, especially now that I can afford to buy some of the books I have wanted for years. recommendations from friends and acquaintances have also helped me expand my reading choices beyond my usual categories and genres. the tbr list keeps growing and it's a reason to live for.

april was a busy month

i started my second study, i presented the results of my first study at an online conference and i applied for a grant for my third study

not gonna lie, it's difficult for me to think about all those different sub-projects simultaneously

in may i must focus on the interviews and figure out how to plan everything for the 2 international conferences that accepted my abstracts

you don’t need perfect conditions to start. you just need to start. five minutes of focus is better than waiting for motivation to come.

It can be so hard to put this into practice as a perfectionist; because the smallest deviation from the study plan or any other plan can lead to a drop in motivation, and imposter syndrome. This is definitely a work in progress.

This is part of why planned obsolescence is so evil. We could all have a phone or laptop that is made ethically that could last 10-20 years without the cost of human life and without filling landfills with electronic waste. But instead since the world is built on Line Go Up we are forced into a position where our tech (which we increasingly need to participate in modern life) self destructs so we have to spend more money at the expense of human life and the environment.

beef and pork from a farm 10 minutes away from you is more ethical and less detrimental to the environment than quinoa grown in ecuador. the future is food forests. the green revolution is food forests. if we manage to survive this apocalyptic hellscape all of your food, plant and animal, is going to come from within half an hour of where you live. plant a vegetable garden in the meantime
