Mary as a weird kid
Mary biting kids because she was pretending to be a tiger
Mary with minimum 40% of her body covered in dirt at all times
Mary throwing the biggest tantrum at being put in a dress despite going to the preppiest of preschools
Mary making potions at recess and throwing it on kids she doesn't like
Mary with short hair because she somehow always gets it knotted no matter what hairstyle its in
Just Mary being a really weird child despite how fancy her upbringing is
With all the debate about Freddy's hero name (Marvel Junior, Lieutenant Marvel, CM3, Voltage etc etc) I'm going to throw another option into the ring.
"Marvelous"
My reasons:
For a bunch of characters named Marvel one of them has to have the name Marvelous its just a missed opportunity to not
With the idea of his word being MARVEL instead of SHAZAM (bc CAPTAIN MARVEL is too long) you get the hilarious concept of the name coming from Freddy trying to avoid saying his word
"Thank you for saving the day! What's your name hero?" "I'm a Marvel-" *thunder cracks above* "-ous. My name is Marvelous."
It sticks to Freddy being connected to Billy due to getting his power from him, while still being individualistic enough where it doesn't feel like Freddy is just a sidekick (part of why I can't get behind Junior, but thats for another post)
You get the comedy of Shazam not being able to say his name without it being an actual issue, there is just ominous thunder every time Freddy says his hero name
This also creates an ongoing bit of Freddy purposely fucking with Zeus or whoever gives him his power
A villain could taunt him with "Marvelous, more like Marvel-less!" and Freddy could rag on that awful pun
Yes this does have the issue of not being a two-part name so it can't be shortened like Mary or Captain, like are they just gonna call him lous? Actually that's kind of funny I consider this comedy net-win

I always love Billy batson and the magic of Shazam’s later Captain marvel because his muscle and power is always implied. He’s a big man of course but his suit isn’t skin tight like black Adam’s, it’s loose and flows around all of his muscle. I love it a lot it’s honestly probably my favorite way anyone has drawn captain marvel

people gotta start making characters with unibrows. and like. not for the sake of being a joke or as another thing to tell you this character is disgusting and ugly. im tired of there being like barely any characters with a unibrow whos character archetype isnt "ugly joke character with a unibrow" and nothing else.

The only thing I despise the New 52 for is it's writing of Freddy Freeman. Both in the comics and the movies. The movies at least had the decency to get his appearance correct.
Freddy is two parts righteous anger, one part playful banter, and one part depression.
Freddy Freeman will nearly kill a man in an act of vengeance. Freddy Freeman will destroy entire units of armies while smiling. Freddy Freeman has faced the death penalty with a grin. Freddy Freeman has dragged himself across frozen streets while dying of hypothermia in order to get to the Rock of Eternity to save the world. Freddy Freeman has survived being left for dead in sub-zero temperatures in a Nazi camp. Freddy Freeman plays pranks on his siblings and neighbours. Freddy Freeman goes out of his way to do good, even in his mortal form. Freddy Freeman has a talent for working with animals. Freddy Freeman is an orphan who rents a room in boarding house because he can't afford any better. Freddy Freeman is poorer, more vulnerable, more oppressed, and more angry than the other two og Marvels.
To sand away so much of that and turn him into a loveable dork who does have moments of heroic desperation but is almost exclusively comic relief feels... idk, boring? They focused on the least important part of his character, his humour, over everything that made Freddy Freddy. Like even if boring the blatant political implications of what they did, it's just boring storytelling to sand off everyone else's edges so Billy can be the edgiest and saddest in the room. I like loveable forks as much as the next guy, but the Batson twins were always closer to that than Freddy. Hell, Cissie is right there and is lovely as an option for loveable dork.
Jewish boy who fought nazis and generally has just been associated a lot with the concept of liberty to blonde will never sit right with me (og Freddy would probably have thrown hands, if a civil conversation didn’t work)
