Libby had only ever met a handful of doors she'd actually knocked on before entering, and Amari's certainly wasn't one of them. "Mom's here!" She announced as she let herself into the apartment, stack of books and folders under her arm. Libby glanced towards the balcony, spotting her daughter's long hair and the all too familiar sight of her glued to her phone. Lydia was reaching that age where she was still a fun, bubbly little girl sometimes, but sometimes a monster of a teen who communicated only through grunts and passive comments. Apparently, today was the latter, Libby noticed as she tapped on the window to the balcony, Lydia gracing her with a glance over her shoulder and a half-assed wave before going back to her phone. "I missed you, too!" She called sarcastically out to her, before turning to Amari. "Thank you so much for watching her this morning," she said with a grateful smile. Libby set her things down on the nearest surface. "I had so much crap to get through, and the school's library felt like the place. How's she been? Like that all morning?"

Amari was sitting on the couch, making sure he didn't get in Lydia's way. She'd been a bit of a grump this morning, and he didn't want to antagonize her any further than he already had. He tried his usual - asking her what was up, singing at her, offering her icecream (in the morning!). None of it worked. He perked up when he saw Libby, and motioned towards the deck. Amari nodded at the question, shrugging. "Yeah, I mean. She was kind of chill early in the morning, but I think I kind of messed up by singing at her. She told me to shut up and then went out on the balcony," he laughed, rolling his eyes. Lydia was practically his niece at this point, so he didn't really care whenever she was a grump. He'd known her forever, so it didn't really bother him - he knew she loved him. "No problem, though. You know I'll always watch her whenever you need." It was true -- Libby was one of his favorite people, still to this day, and he would do pretty much anything that she asked. "I actually just ordered a shit ton of brunch food for us because I wasn't sure when you'd be back. Wanna stay and we can eat? Tell me about what's going on in your life?"
