Hi! Thought this might be of interest to you and some of your followers if you didn't already know about it, the American society of plant biologists has organized a free virtual seminar series on plant biology. All talks are recorded and also available to watch free. You can find by searching plantae presents

oh man i had no idea about this!!! for those not acquainted, the American Society of Plant Biologists is one of the major botany organizations out there, and they publish the academic journal Plantae. i'm just gonna list and link all of the recorded talks so far here, but the more detailed schedule for upcoming live talks can be found here (although it looks like you have to register beforehand to get in to the live sessions). there’s more specifics about each on their respective pages.

Recorded talks: 

April 3rd: Ottoline Leyser (A long distance talk about long distance signalling) and Sarah Robinson (The Mechanics of Size).

April 7th: Dominique Bergmann (Adjusting to a changing world: stomata edition) and Matthew Gilliham (GABA signalling in guard cells acts as a ‘stress memory’ to optimize plant water loss).

April 15th: Detlef Weigel (Epistasis, the spice of life (and evolution) – Lessons from the plant immune system) and Remco Stam (The diversity and molecular evolution of plant defence against pathogens in nature).

PotW: Juniper (Juniperus communis) Belonging to the family Cupressaceae (that's the cypress family), juniper berries are technically a cone! As a gymnosperm, juniper has no flowers. The three scales in the female cone swell into fleshy segments that fuse and grow into large fragrant 'berries'.

Potw! Wood Anemone (Anemone nemorosa 'Allenii'). Branching away from trees today (lol) Anemone nemorosa is the uks native anemone, its natural shade is white, though 'Alleni' is one of its lavender cultivars. Wood Anemone in abundance is often a sign of ancient woodland, as it spreads only as much as 6 feet per century!

I know I’ve been gone for a while.

In part it’s because I’ve been working on an app!

I keep a lot of plants. I think everyone should!
