OOC; i’ve been under the weather & busy these past couple days so that’s my excuse for my inactivity. i’m also still not 100% and need to get an early night so i’ll do my damnedest to get on tomorrow.
OOC; my weekend’s been crazy and it’s almost 2 am so more replies won’t be happening tonight unfortunately. i’ll hopefully be around tomorrow!
paxton-riley:
“Right, okay, well I’ll let you proceed to this so called ‘party’ of yours.” Paxton didn’t really have the time or cares to argue with him about what he happened to be doing on the corner. “There may be, but one of them for me is people like you doing what I’m going to pretend you’re not.”
He nodded his head, knowing he’d have to leave this street corner. At least it wasn’t a night in the holding cells -- he’d done that before, wasn’t interested in going back. “Even if I was doing what you think it is I’m doing, and I’m not, it’s not like I’d be harming anybody.”
tilyoudie:
He’d seen the man around before, though wouldn’t be able to place his name or any information about him. It wasn’t his job, not yet, to know more than a likely affiliation if that. “Sure.” He offered a trade, giving him the last cigarette while taking the lighter carefully. He lit his and then offered the lighter, finger holding it down so the other man could light his cigarette with ease.
Amaury took the cigarette, placing it between his lips and leaning in to light it. Cigarettes were his particular vice but he didn’t say no to them either. There was something undeniably attractive about them. The blond took a drag and let out a small puff of smoke. “Thanks,” he responded, holding his hand out to get his lighter back.
paxton-riley:
Paxton gave the boy a once over, she’d didn’t buy what he was saying for a second. She crossed her arms, “What are you really doing, cause I’m not buying that crap that you’re trying to feed me.” Paxton took a step closer and had a better look, it was a little cool for someone to be wearing tight and skimpy clothing, “It actually looks rather obvious to me what you’re doing actually.” She shook her head, “Look, I don’t know how long you’ve been out here but maybe you should just go home, watch a good movie or tv series, we don’t need this on the streets.”
A wry grin curled at the corner’s of his lips, though he resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Best not to get snippy with a cop -- he’d done that before, didn’t end well for him. Not that he was suggesting she would but you never could be too careful. “I’m going to a party.” A lie, of course, though his tone didn’t give it away. His stance and his place... Now that was a different story. “Ma’am, if I might be so bold, but don’t you think there are other concerns to be had in this town?”
calliehayes:
“Any particular reason why you’re so distracted? You’re not seeing someone and not telling me, are you?” Callie teasingly asked. She loved catching up with old friends and it didn’t matter that they were just standing by the side of the road; catching up was catching up and she was definitely very enthusiastic in learning about all the things she had missed. “So you can’t find it, I take it? Do you need any help finding it because I could come over, if you’d like?”
“God no,” he replied with a snort. “The world would end before I started dating again.” Been there, done that -- Amaury just wasn’t the committed relationship sort of guy. Though he’d probably mentioned his ex in the past, that had been before he moved to Clearmont and Callie wouldn’t know the whole story behind that. “I’m sure I could if I looked; I just don’t see the point. We used to live fine without them and now everyone’s addicted.”
tcnleywarden:
Tenley’s glassy gaze drifted over his figure from head to toe. By the look that flashed through her eyes it was clear she didn’t approve— but not for any expected reason. “Well of course it will be. You’re hardly wearin’ anythin’ at all. They need to let you dress you better.” Which of course was a ridiculous idea considering the whole point was to give a better view of the merchandise. Even in her inebriated state she knew it, too. “Here—” reaching into the depths of her purse she withdrew a twenty dollar bill, “it’s not much but the bar sucked me dry. At least it’s one step closer t’gettin’ done for the night. Or keep it for yourself and buy a hot cup’a coffee ‘n somethin’ to eat once you’re off the clock.”
Amaury gave her a scrutinizing look, half-confused and half-derisive. “You can’t think that could ever possibly happen, do you? You get what I do, don’t you?” His body was a product and he was merchandise. You rarely bought something sight unseen and Amaury didn’t get customer wrapped head to toe. Then again, the girl was obviously drunk. He cocked a brow as she reached into her purse and pulled out some cash, holding it out for him. “I’m not a charity case, you know,” he grumbled, taking it. Though the curly-haired man had his pride, his greed would always outweigh it.
tilyoudie:
A day filled with errands, Daryl took a moment to himself as he attempted to light the cigarette he’d fetched from the carton. One left, he came to the realization that he’d lost his lighter at some point throughout the day. He continued to check his pockets for a moment before he saw a figure come close enough that he felt it appropriate to ask, “Got a light?”
Like usual, Amaury’s appearance could only be described as indecent. Even when he wasn’t on the clock, his wardrobe was primarily made up of skin-tight clothing and well-worn leather jacket. He looked up at the sound, glancing over at the older man and producing a lighter from his jacket. “Here,” he replied. “Not guessing you’ve got one of those to spare?”
ricovasquez:
ALTHOUGH not sure what he wanted, he’d managed to wind up with a little more cash than he’d usually get after a night of running– so, of course, he has to go blow it on food. He settled on ordering himself a plate of waffles, quickly turning his attention back to the other. Rico beamed happily towards the other as he asked the waitress to fill his friend’s cup. “So, let me guess–” he started, both hands around his own mug as if to warm them. “– big guy, six four, kept you up all night? Something along those lines, or am I at lease close?”
The waitress filled his mug and Amaury was grateful for the dark liquid. It was warm and bitter and washed the questionable taste out of his mouth. He set it down against the counter with a small clink and glanced over at Rico, his elbows resting on the counter, arms crossed. “Not exactly a wild guess in this town,” he replied with a small snort. “I’m sure there was one of those -- I had like six last night.”
paxton-riley:
Paxton was just about to finish off her night shift when she drove past one of the darkened streets in her patrol car, something however caught her eye as she pulled up. Something that didn’t look quite right. A figure standing in the dark and she remembered the words her boss had drilled into her head ‘check suspicious activity.’ The thought made her quite nervous, she didn’t know who was out there or what they were doing. The officer got out of her patrol car and walked towards the figure, her hand on her gun for insurance, “This is the police, please tell me you’re not doing anything I’d have to report, for both our sakes.”
Amaury turned to face the woman who’d approached, blinking, eyes wide like a deer caught in the headlight. “I’m not doing anything,” he replied. His words and expression conveyed innocence but his dress and his position standing at the corner of the sidewalk conveyed another story. Maybe she’d see the tight and skimpy clothing as just an eccentric clothing choice but he doubted a police officer would be so naive. They never were.
rinaprior:
Rina has been here for practically her entire life. Being around the Desert Wolves as a vulture was definitely eye-opening since it made her see all the dark, little secrets a lot of her neighbors seem to have. Whether they wanted to show it or not, you pick up a thing or two - such as the things they like, dislike and what they actually do for a living - if you just pay close attention. “I’m not here to be your customer, pretty boy.”
“That wasn’t I was asking,” he replied, cocking a brow at the dark-haired girl. Not that anyone, objectively, could fault her for that but Amaury felt it was presumptuous. Not insulting -- he’d never been one to hide or deny his profession -- but presumptuous. “I have other things you offer, you know. Directions, a light, if I’ve seen someone. I’m not saying I can get you a rabbit if that’s what you want but my point stands.”
OOC; i just checked my askbox on my personal and someone rec’d me this group like 11 days ago (thanks tumblr for not showing me my messages) and ? that one of you guys ? i’m laughing.
calliehayes:
“That’s good to hear,” Callie said, smiling up at her friend warmly. There was something so satisfying about talking to someone you actually like after a long time of not seeing them. “It has! I think it’s been… quite a few weeks, actually? In a town this small, that should be considered a miracle, basically,” she said with a chuckle. “I do that sometimes too. Sometimes, someone sends in a text and I completely forget to reply to it because in my head, I already replied, but in reality, I actually hadn’t. I hope you didn’t mean you lost your phone, though?”
“You know how I am. Getting distracted for weeks at a time isn’t out of the realm of possibility.” As long as he made his money by the end of the week, Amaury could do whatever the hell he wanted and old habits died hard. His ability to go no-contact for weeks on end with the people he genuinely liked was what caused many a spat between him and his ex. “It’s in my apartment somewhere. I have it on silent most of the time so... yeah.”
tcnleywarden:
Walking— of all the things in the world Tenley was actually walking home. For the life of her she couldn’t remember the last time that’d happened, but driving back from the bar wasn’t an option and everyone else had been suspiciously unavailable to answer their phones. The blonde didn’t have to think twice to know what that meant. Just as she neared the end of the block, small hands tucked away inside of her own jacket to ward off the chill, she spotted Amaury up ahead. With a delightedly amused smirk curling at the edges of her lips Ten gave a minor shake of her head. “Not lookin’ to pay for much of anythin’ tonight, honey.” The tipsy tease fell from her lips easily. His profession wasn’t exactly a secret. “Just tryin’a get home before my ass freezes off.”
He let out a small snort. “Don’t think I can help you with that, unfortunately.” While he was a hedonist to the last of them, Amaury was on the clock. That meant he needed a thicker wad of bills to hand over than the one had had in his pocket now. “Either of those things. My ass is going to be numb by the end of the evening and now for any good reasons.” Night in the desert was never pleasant, especially for someone dressed as skimpily as he was.
mvtteoguerra:
Tendrils of smoke curled up from the cigarette balanced between Teo’s fingers, drifting high above his head before dissipating into thin air. By default he was the kind of man who kept his nose firmly planted in his own god damn business ( unless of course the business of somebody else affected his own ). The exchange of cash hadn’t been very discreet, but was it really his concern? Not at all. Did that keep him from commenting on it? Also no… “Not really any ‘a my business,” he admitted as the cigarette found its way back this his lips for another drag, “but you might wanna be careful wavin’ that kinda money around on a street like this.“
Amaury nodded his head, still grinning. “I’ll keep that in mind.” He wouldn’t, probably. If anyone wanted to mess with him then they could deal with a gang breathing down their neck. Discreet wasn’t really Amaury’s style though he knew better to wave his cash in other people’s faces. His eyes drifted to the cigarette in the other man’s fingers; “can you spare one?”
evastratten:
“I don’t like to profile, darling,” Eva replied. “You could just have easily been a drug dealer with an unorthodox taste in fashion.” Her smile widened a little when she realized who she had stumbled across, even if she knew she might be playing with fire. “I’m surprised you find much work out here. Rather macho environment, isn’t it?”
“Don’t think of it as profiling -- think of it as inferring. Do you think there’d be many drug dealers like me, especially in a town like this?” Amaury didn’t know that much about dealing, never having been his vice, but he was pretty sure you weren’t supposed to draw attention to yourself. Amaury? He lived for the limelight. “So they say but you really think a town that wears so much leather is going to be completely heterosexual?”
deeprescott:
“You can help by getting out of my way,” Delilah said with a roll of her eyes. Seriously, what is it with people in this town and standing in the middle of the street when there are so many people walking - or at it seems, riding on a lot of motorcycles. Dee could still remember how intrigued she was about the men in the MCs when she was in high school and also while she was in college but she hadn’t had the chance to really deal with them yet, not when she had so many things to do and apparently, so many people to fight to finish all the things that she had to do. “Or is that something that people in this town just can’t seem to comprehend?”
The grin didn’t fall from his lips but the expression on his face hardened. Amaury was the type of person who delivered insults with a smile on his face -- if her were the violent type, he’d slip poison into your drink with a grin on his lips. His gaze was cold as he spoke to the stranger; “you don’t need to be snippy, miss. You could have just said something.” He didn’t move though -- don’t mistake curled lips for politeness.
