Congrats on your acceptances. I have a poor gpa of 2.6 because of personal issues, but i been a tech for 5 years now. Plan to apply to many schools to increase my chances. Right now I have a list of 25 schools that I will apply which includes Rosalind Franklin, Midwestern CPG and CCP. Do you think I have a chance?
Thanks so much! The good news is your 2.6 still qualifies you to apply for many schools out there. This is not to say that it is competitive, so be sure to make your application shine in other aspects. I see that you have a lot of pharmacy-related experience-- this is great! You need to play up this part of your application, as well as other experiences you have that influenced your passion in pharmacy. Have you taken the PCAT? What do your grades for your most recent 60-90 units look like? Who is writing your LORs?
Here are some suggestions: 1. If you are still in school, make sure you ace all your remaining grades. Show them you’re capable of doing well in pharmacy courses!2. If you haven’t already, take the PCAT and get that 90+ percentile.3. In your personal statement, REALLY emphasize how your experience has influenced you in your pursuit of pharmacy.4. Get good LORs, and give your writers a lot of time to do so. Pick people who know you well and can vouch for your you. 5. Get involved! I think it’s always a nice touch to your application when adcoms see that you’ve participated in lots of community events and other extracurriculars.
**One last thing: I think 25 schools may be a little bit too much! That will cost you a ton of money and may not even be worth it depending on the rest of your stats. I actually regret applying to so many schools (my list was about 10-12) because in the end, I dropped many interviews when I got my first acceptance. Maybe cut out at least 5 schools.
