This is why when people go “oh hey wanna look at my art? I MEAN IT’S SO BAD I DID SUCH A TERRIBLE JOB” my first instinct is to just tell them “nah, I’m good” I really hate self-deprecation. It does you no good. It does me no good. Stop it.

Self deprecation =/= Modesty

Self confidence =/= Narcissism

I have often been put down for showing confidence in myself and my work; apparently people think that’s conceited. Which is bullshit. I learned to use self deprecating language to appeal more to others, so I would be viewed as modest instead of learning how to give myself constructive criticism. Let me be clear, you can be proud of yourself and still recognize you have things to work on.
