I had that coming.” It’d be a lie to say he hadn’t seen this coming because he knew very well that this secret would come back to bite him in the ass at some time. He hadn’t meant to keep it from him, but this wasn’t something so easily handled as shown. It wasn’t something he broadcasted openly, anyhow. “I’m sorry,” he said, wincing at the colorful foreign language. “It’s not like I wanted to keep it a secret because, well, it’s fucking hard to actually keep this a secret.”

  Shrugging, he began to run his hand up and down his arm as a fidgeting, comforting gesture. This was a painfully awkward situation for him. “I was going to tell you, but… how do you tell someone about this without them looking at you like you just scared the blue out of their jeans or like you’ve lost all your marbles?”

  Theo peered at the younger boy from beneath his bangs, feeling uncomfortable enough not to make direct eye contact. “I don’t think that you’re stupid or anything if that’s what you’re thinking. It’s just…” He isn’t sure what to say. What even was there to say with Sammy this angry? “I’m sorry…”

he didn’t LIKE being angry.  anger made him NAUSEOUS, made him DIZZY.  any sort of INTENSE emotion did that to him.  he needed to take a moment to PROCESS, to CALM himself.  anger made people IRRATIONAL.  but maybe it wasn’t ANGER.  maybe it was FEAR instead.  yes, he was SCARED that one day, he’d DIE and theo wouldn’t.  that’s REALLY what this was all about, wasn’t it ??  he was going to be SELFISH and hurt them BOTH now rather than later.  he was the IDIOT here, not theo.  his SHAKING hands gripped his arms, hanging his head.  he spoke after a SIGH, any trace of previous anger GONE, drowned within an endless sea of FEAR.

mad ??  no, no, sammy was FAR from mad.  he was FURIOUS, actually.  did theo REALLY think he could keep something like this HIDDEN ??  did he REALLY think sammy was that STUPID ??  gritting his teeth and CURLING his hands into fists, sammy WANTED to deck him then and there, but knew he didn’t have the WEIGHT to do the damage he wanted to, and no DOUBT theo was stronger than before.  so instead, sammy SHARPENED his anger to a point, words SEEPING with poison and venom and an ANGER he’d never felt before.
