Itâs been many many years but I think itâs about time I leave this blog.
It started in early 2017 as a way to try to calm âshipping warsâ that existed back in the day, and personally served as a big lesson to younger me. Sure I was always a big shipper of one of these two ships, but that didnât matter. I was in multiple fandoms, and I could have a friend in one fandom who shipped the same thing as me, and theyâre also in another fandom as Iâm in who ships a different thing than me and we are still friends.
I learnt that shipping wars arenât a big deal. On the internet itâs easy to surround yourself in your own bubble, your own world of content where you can choose to only see specific things and not be aware of what the rest of the internet thinks. I found out that this âshipping warâ from 2017 wasnât really a war at all and in fact much of the fandom wasnât involved at all, and even more people didnât know or care. I could just walk away from it and never see anything about this war again, even if I thought it was just so big before.
I figured out that what you ship doesnât mean anything at all, and that multishipping is a thing. I was scrolling through a fanart website for one of my favorite games, and saw a piece of cute art that was really nice. So I saved it. Then about five minutes later I realized that that wasnât something I shipped and that I didnât care. That Iâd actually moved past all of the war stuff and it literally never came to mind that âhuh, thatâs cute but I donât ship itâ.
Shipping wars will live for eternity because a lot of people find it more entertaining to be hurtful to others, but itâs important to realize how EASY it is to walk away, block people involved, and remove yourself from the drama.
This blog is no longer needed, but it is a momento to me for learning these things.
