Personal feelings about a fictional character time!
Ren went through a lot, and has come out the other side surprisingly well put together and firm in his beliefs.
But because of this he often feels like a parent rather than a child, and that breaks my heart a bit. Responsible, collected, dismissing feelings and leaning on facts to keep himself and others from flying off the handle.
Tranquility feels like both a blessing and a curse as a semblance, and I don’t often see that point brought up.
Yeah, it’s incredibly useful for keeping everyone safe, and has consistently saved lives... but it also seems to mute Ren overall, which makes those moments of negative emotional outbursts he has (although rare) far more explosive.
It’s pretty easy to forget how young Ren is because of this, and it makes the times where you DO remember how old he is more hurtful. He had to grow up in an instant and it definitely feels like he’s still paying for having to do that.
There is nothing quite as painful as having having to grow up long before you should have had to.
As for the head canon of enby Ren, I dig it!
