Some scraps are too good to throw away. This Trader Joe’s tote is getting new accents made from reclaimed flannel and a few pieces of denim from one of my favorite well-worn shirts. I like the idea that a little piece of that story gets to travel along into something new 🍂🌲🧵

Stuck indoors, so of course I used the time to catch up on all my old proj-

No! I started a new knitted rag rug, of course.

This little girl was born from papier-mâché, but her soul was given by vintage.

For the base I took an old baby doll from the 80s — that very one, from childhood. Do you remember those? There was something warm and real in them. I carefully reworked it into a new life, preserving that very nostalgic magic.

Her body and arms are soft — you want to hug them. And her hair… That is a separate story. Real goat wool, which I wash with shampoo, treat with conditioner, and if needed, dye, like my own. For this girl, I chose a milky-white color — she looks like the first snow or a little cloud.

Right now she is waiting for her legs and her outfit. But her heart is already there. And she is already looking for that very owner who will take her home.

FINALLY FINISHED !!!

I’ve been at this since like September. Originally the plan was to do five panels but by the time I reached three I realized it was absolutely going to be too heavy. If the back bothers me then I’ll just buy some black fabric and sew it on.

I pinned it excessively since I have been warned the feathers won’t flatten unless blocked aggressively. They still don’t behave themselves 100% but again, if it bothers me I’m willing to steam block it in the future. Super fun before and after pics.

Pattern is of course the feathered wings shawl by my favorite pattern designer craftyintentions.

Meet Cardboard the cat! He was initially meant to have embroidered stripes, but when I realized a blank cat would be more useful for visualizing color placements, he became my sample model for future designs instead.

Project finished: scrap needle book

Pieces of old shirts and scraps of cheap felt. Entirely hand-stitched. Button + embroidery thread loop for closure. A shame I didn't have a lot of this to use; it's so, so soft. Well-worn fabrics often are.

Approx. 3.5in x 4in (or 8.5in, unfolded.)

I don't keep track of time because then the ADHD thing will say "IT TAKES TOO LONG!!! BORING! ABANDON AT ONCE!" and it'll go back into the "project drawer" forever.

The final home for my little school of fish! They don't stand up well (they're fish, of course they don't) so I wanted somewhere they could hang as a display. Luckily I have the perfect spot in my closet cozy corner! I love sitting there and watching them gently spin together.

Don't tell the others, but I definitely have a favorite :)

The metal pieces are some old earring parts I had leftover from a jewelry class way back when, left open for a more fishhook-like appearance and so I can quickly take just the fish back down again - or swap their places if I want! The strings are looped around a pole for hanging clothes on rather than directly tied in place, so the entire structure can be easily taken down or moved if I need to.
