Amelia's Journal

I'm playing through Skyrim, and I thought it might be fun to take the role play a bit further and make a journal of sorts for my character. Meet Amelia. She's an aspiring mage from High Rock who's path is headed to the Mage's College. Click the 'chronological entries' link to start from the beginning.

23rd of Last Seed, 4E 201

I slept clear through the day and most all of the night! I must have been more tired then I thought. At least I get an early start. Dawnstar is my next city, and with no towns in between here and there, the earlier the better. I really would rather not have to camp out in the wilds of the north. Though, jut from what I've experienced recently, the cities don't seem to be all that much safer.

22nd of Lat Seed, 4E 201

That was a very long night. By the time I cleared the cave, the sun had been in the sky for a few hours. At least I am alive to see the sun, I suppose. Though, if I am truthful, my flame antronach did a lot of the work. I hid in the shadows and fired off a few firebolts before summoning her, and she finished the job. My angry horde of townspeople stayed outside. I can't say I blame them. They're mostly farmers armed with nothing better then an axe and daggers. I have to say. It might have been better that way. Now, time for some much needed sleep.

21st of Last Seed, 4E 201 (fifth entry)

Vampires! They were the cause of all this. Some kind of plot to enslave the whole town and make it a safe haven for their kind. And so far it has cost an entire family their lives. I went to Alva's house, she is the woman who orchestrated the deaths, to investigate. I find Hroggar there. He was so blind to everything and so completely under the vampire's spell that there was no reasoning with him. I had to kill him. Or he would have killed me. I found Alva' journal, and it was full to the brim with damning evidence. What is it with people who are trying to hide something leaving their journals out in the open? Anyway, I showed it to the Jarl and she organized a strike at the mater vampire who is behind this whole mess. She wants me to lead it. I really hope I'm trong enough to face a centuries old monster.

21st of Last Seed, 4E 201 (fourth entry)

After a stop at the apothecary, I decided to go talk to the Jarl. Maybe figure out the extent of her visions she claims to have. Though it seems she would like some help from an unbiased stranger with the matter of the burned house. Truth be told, I would like to find out what is going on as well. The idea of a man burning his own wife and child alive doesn't sit right with me. There might be some coin in it for me as well. No matter what the verdict turns out to be.

21st of Last Seed, 4E 201 (third entry)

I have finally reached Morthal. A heavy snow storm greeted me when I arrived, as did a group of angry sounding fellows in front of the Jarl's long house. Apparently a local man's house burned to the ground with his wife and child inside it. From what I could gather, they seemed to be angry at the Jarl for not following up on accusations that the man, Hroggar I believe, is the one who committed the arson and murder. Also that she is clairvoyant and has brought in a new court mage, who none of the townspeople seem to trust or like. Nords. None of them seem overly fond of magic. I've been wondering if it was really a very good idea to seem out the College in Winterhold. At least now that I am witness to the prejudice that I will be facing from the people of this country for practicing my art. Oh well, I am here now, and I must make the best of it.

21st of Last Seed, 4E 201 (second entry)

I've never been fond of necromancy. It always struck me as a very cowardly branch of magic. Yes, raising someone from the dead, or more specifically, animating a dead corpse does take a certain degree of skill. That much I will say. But what many necromancer actually do to other to further their own research is sick and cowardly. They hole up in an abandoned ruin of a fort by a road and wait for non-mage to pass by, and then they ambush them! Normal people. Farmers, merchants, people who have done nothing except be in the wrong place at the wrong time. They attack and mutilate the defenseless for their own personal gain. Which is why I had no qualms about going through the fort they were skulking around in and making damn sure they couldn't hurt anyone else. It also didn't hurt in the least that I found many things I needed stuffed away in their numerous store rooms.

I was woken up to a slobbery lick to the face. I suppose the late owner of this shack had a dog. Poor little thing. I hope he'll be alright on his own out here.

20th Last Seed, 4E 201 (second entry)

I spent too much time in Dragon Bridge. The sun set so quickly, and there isn't a town nearby. Luckily I stumbled across a small shack in the woods. The only inhabitant was a man who appears to have died of rock joint. I drug the body out as far away from the shack as I could, and aired out the bed furs. I suppose I'll be sleeping in my armor tonight.

20th of Last Seed, 4E 201

A hundred septim. A. Hundred. Septim. That was the bounty. That is what I got for risking my neck to eliminate a 'risk to the Empire'. I would feel cheated if I didn't pick up all of the loot those bandits had lying around their hideout. I must have found two hundred coins just lying about. For a group of distrustful and cut throat thieves, they sure weren't careful about where they left their valuables. Except for the chief. He had all of his things stashed in a locked chest underwater on the deck of a sunken ship. A lot of good that did him, though. He had the exact location of it written in his journal that was just on his table out in the open. Idiots. The whole lot of them. But, stupid as they were, they did make great target practice for my new firebolt spell. The range it has! I swear, it must shoot farther then any arrow can fly. And truer to its course as well. It stays straight and sure until it slams into its target with a burst of deadly flame. Most were dead before they even knew what hit them. Yet once again, the chief was different. He almost took my life. More then once. Thank the nine for those poisons I made yesterday. Without them I would certainly not be around to enjoy my spoils. I need every gold piece I can get to make it to Winterhold. By the look of things, I'll need to go through Dragon Bridge to get to Morthal. I hear there i a good alchemist there, maybe I can pick up a few things.

19th of Last Seed, 4E 201

Firebolt, ice spike, conjure flame antronach, and oak flesh. Those are the spells I have to master. I do not yet think I have enough power to summon an antronach, though. Maybe after I take out those bandits. They're so far north of Solitude, almost as far north as where I started. Oh well. I need the money.

18th of Last Seed, 4E 201 (second entry)

I've done almost everything I wanted to do in the city. Tomorrow I will visit the court mage and see if there are any spell book to buy.Then, I will see if there are any bounties up. Make some money and practice my magic. Two birds with one stone.

18th of Last Seed, 4E 201

This city is wonderful! I made a small fortune with the things I picked up, with no questions either! The merchant barely batted an eyelash. I suppose in a city as large as this, stranger things are seen. The owner of the apothecary is lovely as well. She let me stay for hours, just fooling around with my experiments. I did make off with quite a few thing, though. I might actually have a knack for this. She even bought a good portion of the potions I wouldn't use off of me, saying they were store quality! Who knew? I with my mother and sister could see that my 'silly mashing up of plants' was actually profitable.

17th of Last Seed, 4E 201 (entry five)

Solitude! Finally! I didn't make it before nightfall, and I was worried the gates might be closed. They weren't. I suppose that was due to their gate keep being executed right as I entered the city. I didn't stick around, public deaths aren't really my thing. And I managed to find a room that is actually rather nice. Even if I can hear the bard plain as day. Oh well. I suppose this is a bard's city. Tomorrow I will sell all the things I managed to collect, hopefully without too many stares, and maybe find somewhere to practice my alchemy. Fresh ingredients are growing everywhere in this city.

17 of Last Seed, 4E 201 (entry four)

Why on earth did I think it would be a good idea to ask for directions? No, actually, why would a crew of a ship attack someone without notice?! What is wrong with this country? I did pick up a nice scimitar from one of the men on the deck, though. It fits better in my hand then the axe. Which is a very good thing, because stupid me decided to go and see if there was anyone on the ship who I could talk to about their now dead deckhands. Oh well. Long story short, I have have everything of worth from that vessel. All because a couple of mountain trolls decided to attack a girl trying to ask for directions.

17th of Last Seed, 4E 201 (entry three)

Everything was going so smoothly until I spotted Solitude. I got distracted and didn’t notice a Khajit woman creep up on me. I tried to tell her that I didn’t have anything on me, no gold, no valuables, nothing, but she wouldn’t listen. Despite never really having used any kind of weapon before, I’m glad I picked up that axe. I am sure I would have been killed if I hadn’t. It might be a good idea to carry a weapon until my magic get stronger.

17th of Last Seed, 4E 201 (entry two)

Thalmor. They were everywhere. I stumbled across a fort crawling with them.They disgust me. The way they use their magic ... to manipulate and blackmail entire countries ... It makes me sick. Though, they were all wearing the most lovely armor. It really didn't take much to lure one away and proceed to roast her inside her pretty golden suit. It still has a faint burnt flesh odor to it, but at least I'm not running around in stinking, wet animal hide.

17th of Last Seed, 4E 201

I swear, that guide could not have dropped me in a worse place in all of Skyrim. No good armor, not a septim to my name, and only a dagger and some weak magic to defend myself. You would think he'd have the common decency to lead me to a road. But no. 'Here's the border', he says. 'I'll be off now', he says. The nerve. And not only that, but the first people I encounter try to kill me! I approached with no weapons drawn, my hands up, and charged at me anyway.I'm just glad that my magic, weak as it is, was strong enough to take their lives and let me keep mine. I searched the sunken ship they were guarding and managed to find a good amount of septim, some armor, and a lot of food. It must have just gone down, it was all still fresh. All that, along with what I took off the bandits and what I took from their camp, gave me hope that maybe I wouldn't die in this frozen wasteland.
