Rubin Hall Social Media Playbook
During Summer 2015, my personal project at NYU Rubin Residence Hall was to create a Social Media Playbook. This Playbook will be utilized by future resident assistants with the social media manager collateral, the Building Leadership Team, and SUG@R (the Rubin Hall student council). To read more about the entire 11 week process, click here.

Week 11 - Done!
Finally, placed the finishing touches! Going in to see the RHD and RHAD to go over the entire Playbook on Wednesday! I can’t believe I wrote 22 pages of content. Hopefully, everything inside is useful and usable.
Week 10 - Final Stretch!
Continued writing, editing, and revising the guidelines for each platform + included a resources section with checklists, links to public domain images, and other NYU branding guides.
Almost done!

Week 9: Responding to Feedback & Solidifying Rationale
Finally, put together a solid introduction + part of rational and turned in for feedback!
Received the green light to keep treading forward and finished up the Rationale. I included a basis for why we are utilizing our current platforms (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr) and why we are putting one to rest (...at least for now).

Week 8 - Drafting and Collaboration Continued drafting; I want to have a completed section before handing in for review. In other news, I started talking to Nic and Marilyn, who are currently working on the Rubin tumblr, about moving forward with Rubin Social Media over the summer.

Week 7 - Drafting Madness (cont.)
Still trying to get all my thoughts on paper...

Week 6 - One Sheet Draft
Based on key findings from the table created last week and other research thus far, I created a draft for a one sheet. This document would be for RAs not directly working on social media. This way all RAs can be informed of Rubin Hall’s social media presence and support moderating the different outlets.

Week 4 - Drafting
Working on a consolidated text/doc version of the Playbook based on my work thus far. The inside doesn’t look nearly as snazzy as the thumbnail, but hopefully that will change soon. Hoping to create visuals for the platform definitions and personas of key stakeholder and target audiences this week.

Week 3 - Background Research ( Cont. )/Introduction Section
I have started work on the introduction section of the social media playbook and looked at references such as reports from the Pew Research Center, as well as other social media playbooks (i.e., Boy Scouts of America, Cisco).
Interesting Finds Include:
- A perception gap exercise (and visual!) between key stakeholders and target audiences (Cisco, p.7)
- Quantitative evidence of the slowing growth of Facebook Users (Pew Reseach Center).
Rubin Hall Social Media Handbook
Week 2 - Interviews and Initial Definitions
Interviewed key stakeholders (RHD & RHAD) and mapped out definitions for each social media platform.
Borrowed UX questions for interviews
e.g.,
If social media was magical, is audience responsive, what would it look like?
Who do you imagine target audience to be?
What are big challenges/issues come across when trying to reach our audience through social media?
Rubin Hall Social Media Handbook
Week 1
Hello Everyone,
This summer, I will be working on a Social Media Handbook for Rubin Hall. I will help define which platforms (e.g., Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) Rubin Hall will be using and what type of content will be written and curated for each.
Luckily, there are already pre-existing guidelines from NYU and guidelines from the Office of Residential Life and Housing Services to help me get a jumpstart on this project and help inform me on my decisions.
Hopefully, my work with the IRHC and my previous Rubin Hall summer project will help me with the making of the handbook as well.

An extra credit presentation I created for my Research Methods II class at NYU. The assignment was to find a news article that cited scientific research and evaluate how the journalist portrayed information from the journal article(s).
